(Alliance News) - Highland Gold Mining Ltd said Wednesday it has appointed Michael Monaghan as chief operating officer, though the company did not say when the appointment would take effect.
In his new role, Monaghan will take responsibility for overseeing day-to-day operations over all of the gold miner's production and development assets. He will be based in the company's office in Moscow, Russia.
Monaghan's most recent role was at Russia-based gold producer Nordgold LLC, where he was mining and technical director for five years since 2015.
"We are pleased to welcome Michael and his extensive international mining industry experience to our management team at Highland Gold. His track record of designing operations and management systems and implementing best practices in mining and health & safety across a range of enterprises will be invaluable to the company as we enter a new phase of growth and development," said Chief Executive Officer Denis Alexandrov.
Shares in Highland Gold Mining were up 1.2% at 206.07 pence on Wednesday in London.
