LAGOS, April 30 (Reuters) - The Nigerian unit of British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline said on Tuesday its2012 pretax profit rose 20 percent to 4.17 billion Nigeriannaira ($26.41 million), from 3.49 billion naira the previousyear.
Turnover grew to 25.31 billion naira during the period,compared with 21.52 billion naira a year earlier, the companysaid in a filing with the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
GlaxoSmithKline Plc, the London-listed British parent firm,last year announced plans to increase its shareholding in bothits Nigerian and Indian units to tap into faster growth from itsemerging market businesses. ($1 = 157.9000 naira) (Reporting by Oludare Mayowa; Editing by Chijioke Ohuocha)
