Components group Elektron reported an interim loss compared with a profit the previous year but said it is confident of meeting market expectations for the full year.The group posted a loss before taxation from continuing operations of £388,000 for the six months to 31 July following exceptional charges relating to cost cutting compared with a profit of £101,000 the previous year. Revenue for the period was down 27% at £14.2m in difficult markets.Commenting on trading conditions Elektron said it had seen "signs of improvement in all markets but confidence was still fragile." Elektron said emphasis is on building sales in growing economies of China and Brazil.Overall the group said it remains confident of meeting market expectations for the full year.
