Europa Oil & Gas Says Penistone Flags Well Test Encouraging

Fri, 04th Sep 2015 06:52

LONDON (Alliance News) - Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) PLC on Friday noted an announcement from Egdon Resources PLC on the extended well test operations conducted on the Penistone Flags and Ashover Grit reservoirs at the Wressle-1 oil and gas well.

During the extended well test conducted on the Penistone Flags oil zone, Europa said oil and gas flowed from zone 3A on the site with no evidence of water. An anaylsis of the well test and log data has indicated the elevation of the oil water contact for the Penistone Flags reservoir is deeper than than previously been modelled, which could have positive implications for the quantity of oil and gas volumes in the interval.

Plans for a workover of the well are currently being finalised, Europa said.

For the Ashover Grit reservoir, however, it has so far not been possible to re-establish flow rates during the extended well test, either due to a mechanical problem with the down-hole completion, an annular blockage or an impairment of the perforations caused by the well completion operations, Europa said.

A new workover will be undertaken on the well and a programme of remedial work will be initiated, should that be required.

"We are encouraged by the results of the EWT of the Penistone oil zone, which could be larger than first envisaged, and also by the analysis of well data for the Ashover, which suggests the free flowing oil production rates of 80 bopd and 47 mcf of gas per day could be improved upon," said Hugh Mackay, Europa's chief executive.
