STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps index up, outpaces FTSE 100

The FTSE small caps index is up by 0.2 percent, outpacing both theblue-chip FTSE 100, up 0.1 percent, and the FTSE mid-caps index,which is flat.

Borders & Southern Petroleum surges 14.6 percent after the energygroup says it is considering doing more drilling work at its Darwin site in theFalklands Islands.

Marketing company Cello Group also performs well, rising 7.7 percentafter Cello announces the acquisition of consultancy firm Mash Health for aninitial amount of 0.6 million pounds, and says that the company's trading hasbeen in line with management expectations

Communications company Hasgrove rises 6.4 percent after reportingthat it expects to post profits in line with market expectations and says it isupbeat over its prospects for the rest of the year.

Among the fallers, Augean falls 9.1 percent after the wastemanagement company says it expects annual results to come in at the lower end ofthe company's forecasts.
