APR Energy, which operates in the fast-track power solutions industry, has extended an existing 70 megawatt (MW) diesel power module contract with the Botswana Power Corp. for a further 12-month period. It was first appointed by the national electric utility in 2009 to counteract electricity shortages driven by demand growth and supply constraints in the Southern Africa region.John Campion, APR Energy's Chief Executive Officer said: "Today's announcement reflects our leading industry position in the region with 800MW of installed power capacity on the continent. "Our 70MW facility in Francistown has been a key component of Botswana's power generation infrastructure for four years, filling a critical gap in the country's drive toward permanent energy sufficiency."NR
