Amec Foster Alliance To Carry Out Major Upgrade To Power Network

Wed, 02nd Dec 2015 07:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - Amec Foster Wheeler PLC Wednesday said it has formed the Capital Deliver Alliance with three other companies which will implement a major GBP1.00 billion infrastructure programme in the UK power network over the next 12 years.

Amec, one of the founding members of the Alliance, is partnering up with Clancy Docwra, McNicholas and Morrison Utilities Services. Together, the companies will work with UK power networks to refurbish and upgrade infrastructure in the east and south-east of the UK, including London.

The UK power networks are regional grids which deliver electricity to industrial, commercial and domestic users from power plants.

Clancy Docwra is part of Clancy Group PLC and is a leading UK construction company whilst McNicholas is a utilities contractor. Morrison Utilities Services claims to be the UK's "leading utility service provider".

The Alliance will refurbish or upgrade electricity substations alongside cables and power lines across all three of those areas, aimed at delivering "excellence in service" for customers of the UK power networks.

Representatives from each member of the Alliance will be based in one London office to operate as one entity.

"As part of the Alliance, we will use our global expertise and experience to help deliver safe, innovative resilient solutions to support the energy transition for London, the East, South-East and for our customer," said Marc Boulter, managing director of Amec's transmission and distribution business.
