Amerisur Suitor Maurel & Prom Backs Away Following GeoPark Deal

(Alliance News) - France's Etablissements Maurel & Prom SA on Monday said it has decided against a bid for Amerisur Resources PLC.

Amerisur began a strategic review in July, after receiving interest from fellow operators in Colombia, rejected a USD260 million proposal from Maurel & Prom soon after.

In November, Cardiff-based Amerisur agreed a GBP242 million takeover by Latin America-focused oil and gas producer GeoPark Ltd. GeoPark will be paying 19.21 pence per share for Amerisur, with shares closing flat Monday in London at 18.70p.

As a result of this accepted bid, Maurel & Prom has decided against pursuing a competing offer.
