Amerisur Resources Shareholders Approve GBP240 Million Takeover

(Alliance News) - Amerisur Resources PLC's shareholders have voted in favour of the company's takeover by GeoPark Ltd, Amerisur said Thursday.

In November, Cardiff-based Amerisur agreed a GBP242 million takeover by Latin America-focused oil and gas producer GeoPark, which is paying 19.21 pence per share for Amerisur. Shares were up 0.5% on Thursday at 19.14p.

Amerisur began a strategic review in July, after receiving interest from fellow operators in Colombia, and rejected a USD260 million proposal from France's Maurel & Prom soon thereafter.

Some 82% of shareholders voted in favour acquisition on Thursday, with 18% rejecting it.

Amerisur expects the last day of trading in its shares to be January 15, with shares suspended the day after and then cancelled one day later.
