Atlas Development Appoints Contractor For Chanco Bottling Facility

Tue, 01st Mar 2016 09:12

LONDON (Alliance News) - Atlas Development & Support Services Ltd Tuesday said it has appointed an Ethiopian firm to provide a full range of services to assist in the construction of the Chanco bottle project.

Atlas Development has appointed MH Engineering PLC to provide a full range of design services including architectural, engineering, structural, sanitary, electrical and mechanical design and quantity surveying services, in relation to the construction of the Chancho project.

The project lies around 45 kilometres north of Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, and will have the capability to produce 105.0 million 330 millimetre bottles per year.

"The appointment of MH Engineering so soon after our fundraising together with the commencement of ground clearing and geotechnical drilling on-site is a clear demonstration of our commitment to rapidly advance the Chancho project into a state-of-the-art bottling facility, capable of addressing the deficit in quality domestically produced glass bottles in Ethiopia," said Chief Executive Carl Esprey.

Last week, Atlas Development said ground clearence work at the project had started, as the company moves toward its target to begin commissioning of the facility in 2018 before full production sometime in 2019.

Atlas Development shares were trading down 12.4% to 0.333 pence per share on Tuesday morning.
