Hayden Locke, CEO of Emmerson plc the developers of the Khemisset Potash mine in Northern Morocco, told London South East that 21 mining permits have been consolidated into one for the project.
"The consolidation of permits is the vital first step to eventually applying for a Mining Permit for Khemisset" and Hayden has been 'hugely encouraged' by the support seen from the Moroccan Government and Mining Ministry for the potash mine, which will eventually be one of the biggest mining employers in the country.
Emmerson are one of the first mining projects in the country to achieve this under the new Moroccan Mining Code and it significantly simplifies Emmerson's in-country technical reporting. "Each licence required a technical report, so to consolidate them is a big saving in time and effort".
