I have today purchased shares in Varta. from top slicing of my holding in Adyen. In common with you, I believe that as a sector, renewables are likely to benefit in the next few years, but so too is Artificial Intelligence. And although it is very tempting to chuck a shed load of cash at blue sky companies, I have made rather too many mistakes with companies like VLS that have suffered with terrible managers.
But we are aligned in believing that there is money to be made from battery technology - I prefer solid revenue streams and with Varta it is key fobs, hearing aids, computer bios clock etc - think along the tangent lines for your preferred choice.
With mining, do you buy shares in penny miners / oilers whose mkt cap can double or halve each day depending on discovery or drill bit makers or conveyor belt suppliers that are dull but every miner/oiler needs a stock of these every year whether they discover riches or not.
Not investment advice, but more a strategic direction
Rather depends on your tolerence to risk, geographic exposure, balance of portfolio etc. a

On a related note.
I invested in a really good sustainable energy fund:
GUINNESS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FUND CLASS Z - ACCUMULATION (GBP) - available from HL
Good list of companies and diversified across the world - well worth a look

Lee,
I would recommend BMN, because they're producing Vanadium, for Vanadium Batteries (they own part of 2 vanadium battery manufacturers), which are vital to the renewable energy industry & the green revolution we'll see unfold over the next few years.

LeeM83 I'm in the same boat looking for renewable and sustainable options for longer term investments. I have just got into AEG which is a biomass business which is just starting to pick up some pace with confirmed patents and orders. I have dipped my toe and will watch with interest. Im keen to get stay within the renewable so if you find any others feel free to let me know.

Totally by chance saw your interest but look at Eqtec (waste to energy) as might be worth your research time.
