Each year there is an award ceremony which is concerned about wealth and management thereof. Yesterday saw the 2024 awards issued. I was not there, neither did I vote BUT I do take a keen interest in the results.
Answering your question - the simple answer is yes (with caveats) but the complex answer is no.
Let's take the complex answer first. The "racing/sporting pink" is the FT. It is considered to be the "bible" for anyone in the City. Here, laid out are the daily results for every runner and rider that MIGHT or indeed, DOES have influence on the daily movement or writhings of exchanges accross the world.
Daily movements are completely irrelevant to an investor but of high concern to an investor. As 100% journalists are not identical to me, then their opinion is useless. As 100% investment managers do not share the same goals or even objectives to me, they too, then are useless.
The purpose of share tips is to put the most favourable slant on the prospects for a company that has released information to provide the case of ownership of a holding in that company.
The adage to DYOR has very different meaning for every investor - I am invested for capital growth and my risk level is high. Since I am closer to age 70 than I am to 60 does that mean that I am reckless? I also have investment portfolio to benefit future generations which are yet not born. The decisions I am taking is for capital growth at high risk and, as it is to pass its 10 year anniversary next year, so the risk will decrease to medium high and in a further 10 years to medium. It will also transition from growth to throwing off dividends. Growth may remain a priority in a bull market but stability will be of consequence in a bear one.
