Proton Power Systems (TIDM: PPS)
I am a long term fan of alternative energy systems and I have been keenly following PPS for a number of years, but it is only in the last few years that PPS has been making noises which suggest that it is now ready to roll out a number of hydrogen fuel cell systems to the world. The recent final result announcement gives a more comprehensive view of developments but I’ll more or less cut and paste the key points that I find interesting from it, especially those relating to future projects1:
- Current hydrogen related global market is $58 billion with expectations of growth
- Ongoing discussions with Chinese companies for bus applications – expected project in 2015
- European electric fuel cell battery bus due to launch in second half of 2015
- Ongoing discussions with an international logistics company for a first test vehicle (electric fuel cell battery)
- Continuing progress with Austrian automotive supplier requiring integration of Range Extender System into a passenger van
- Continued interest in stationary power market from solar and wind parks in Europe, China and Africa
- Feasibility study for a Chinese ship builder due to be finalised in first half of 2015, with development following this due to begin in 2016
- Currently working with semiconductor manufacturer to enable them to use waste hydrogen for power generation
- Successful infrastructure expansion to allow ramp-up of production to 200 units per year in preparation for future demand
There is a lot for me to look forward to during 2015-2016 from PPS and it will be great to see orders and confirmed projects starting to come through regularly. The company has a long term history in fuel cell technology and has the knowledge and expertise to be able to provide guidance and support from design to implementation and through to after sales so all there is left me to do is wait, so wait I shall!
