@cranleigh - appreciate your post
@rollinhand - appreciate the clarification
My understanding is that firms were able to submit a draft application to the FSA up to 31 December 2020 and get free feedback from them on, eg what if anything was missing or insufficient to get an actual application validated.
So I imagine our rather well clued-up co-CEOs and their legal advisers took advantage of that opportunity to make sure all their ducks were in a row for their actual application. News soon, I expect.
simple answer - Brexit.
Pre 1st January 2021 everything had to be submitted through the EU (covering the EU and UK). From 1 minute past midnight 1st January 2021 the FSA took control wholly for GB. NI is still under EU rules for validation
As noted Pureis has validation for both GB and EU.
@rollinhand appreciate the link
Curious on one observation. ZOE filed in Dec-20. Any thoughts why Pureis making a thing out of 1 minute past midnight on 1-Jan being "as soon as possible" ?
"This represents a significantly quicker turnaround than many anticipated, though Pureis did submit its application as soon as possible – telling CBD-Intel that it filed it one minute after midnight on 1st January 2021"
so if shops / online retailers are stuck with unlicenced goods..are they fined for continuing to sell ? Is it up to the makers to collect goods back ? I can see a lot of companies going under...they will not care re stock on shelves. It will probably be left to local trad standards to visit premises...
Very kind of them, Fred. A better initiative would be to post the up to date list of validated applications on their website, starting from now!
Cranleigh..I read somewhere that companies were being written to if they had not submitted for licencing re their products being withdrawn from shelves.
A rather odd way of doing things.
Might not even be 1st April, I'm thinking in the 6th to 9th date range. That weekend is Easter with Friday 2nd April and Monday 5th April being public holidays. As our markets are closed on those two days any new FY RNS may not come until 6th at earliest.
day after march 31st...
The FSA’s intention to publish the list of validated applications on 1 April, rather than as and when each application is validated, leaves retailers in the dark about which products to discount or return to their manufacturers until beyond the last minute. What is it about 1 April?
good stuff !!
so my guesstimate of a list in april wasn't too far out ! If we submitted december we should be high on leaderboard....
article out today..

How long will it take to see validated assessments from the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA)?
The FSA has confirmed to CBD-Intel that it has already validated at least one application with an updated list to be published in April.
This represents a significantly quicker turnaround than many anticipated, though Pureis did submit its application as soon as possible – telling CBD-Intel that it filed it one minute after midnight on 1st January 2021.
However assuming the brand took a similar amount of time to produce its underlying studies, it should not be very long until more companies start to announce that their applications too have been validated.
The FSA said it would be unable to provide ongoing confirmation of validation on a case by case basis and that full confirmation of claims would have to wait for the published list in April.
CBD-Intel will keep track of validated case claims as it hears of them.
