As for being cleverer than the II’s, I’d go as far as to say there are probably people on this board (you included Thurg, and Loosely, Donatron, Sean83) that know more about the process, risks and opportunity that your typical II. Unfortunately, there are also many people on this board who think they know it all, but, rather unfortunately, don’t.
The F4C was announced prior to the formal PP issue, albeit on the same day. That was a busy day for the VLS PR department and it could mean they are finally getting their comms act together.. Hopefully that means more frequent news releases going forward, which means more trading opportunities.
XPB: You forgot the F4C award, which, at worst, must be viewed as an endorsement of the Velocys case to date. However, in essence you are correct regarding progress so far. Nevertheless, recent activity and the fact that the IIs piled into last friday's fund raise rather suggests that your overall view is somewhat more pessimistic than theirs. Does that make you cleverer than them? I hope not.
Yes Thurgarton - agree with all of that, although VLS has at least allowed PI some scraps, when the City boys keep it all for themselves. I suspect it was done only to alleviate criticism for the Government.
Knowing we shall receive very few shares at 3.01 per 100, I bought more at 6.04 on Friday. If we believe in the company and the offering, that’s the only way for PI to minimise the dilution.
As you infer, a purchase by Shell and or IAG at some point has to be a very possibility. I cannot see them being interested only in Immingham and suspect they will want to own the worldwide offering eventually.
If you do the math, you will realise that the placing offers little value to PIs. If you hold one million shares, this entitles you to 10000 shares at 5p ie £500's worth. Unless you plan to LTBH and the SP goes ballistic, there is no chance of a decent profit in anything other than %age terms. If you are wanting to average down, the same applies - if you hold one million shares at 10p, you would average down by just 0.05pence!! (9.95p). As I see it, the only real beneficiary is Velocys. They have taken good care of their IIs and offered scraps to the PIs like us. It remains to be seen if the ploy works in that either there is a takeover or Shell/BA come up with a very positive message on 30 Jun. It will be an interesting week.
IQBen, no I’m not suggesting that atall. It probably won’t, but it’s my opinion based on the question from Zoro121. The price was around 5p before Shapps and before the raise. Nothing material has happened since the PP was officially announced,, which was immediately before Shapps. Only PR activity and a dilutionary raise has happened, which are not related to physical Project progress milestones.
It’s up to you to assess whether the Shapps mention added long term value or not. This is why the 5p level is relevant in my opinion.
RNS dated 26th.
Don't forget the further placing tomorrow to raise a further £1 Million by issuing 20,000,000 new shares at 5p to existing share holders based on multiples of 100 shares currently held. (As of 25th June and END dated 26th). That will also be way over subscribed.
Anyone taking a blind bit of notice of this habitual scum bag needs their head examined.
Just click on her/his name and read the posts this year. Almost without exception they are posting negative thoughts and comments to encourage investors to sell. I wonder what the FCA would have to say about it. Report them.
Come on expatbrat, you seriously saying people will sell for LESS than 5p??? 376 million shares were issued (cheap) at 5p, and you're saying people are willing to cash out at less than that??? I'm doubtful it will even get to 5p, but to say it will go lower - you're making yourself look a fool.
You're a massive de-ramper, looking to buy back in AGAIN. FYI everyone else, this is the idiot that talked this share down even when it was at 3p.

With a bit of luck in 10 years time people are going to look back and say... imagine if we could go back in time, listen to Expat and not invest in Velocys! ????
5p would be a logical entry point as it was at this price before Grant Shapps ramped it on the telly . However the recent raise and dilution should knock it back a bit lower imho. If it goes below 5p, and theres news coming, then that’ll be a good entry point in my opinion.
Where do you get hold of these mate?
Thank you expat some interesting info for my initiation to this stock i do own some im just not sure how much more i want to put in yet.
Expat I assume you would be buying back in if this hits 5p?
Yes, RA has money in this, but his investment was made when VLS were hunting for stranded shale gas (fossil fuel). That didn’t work out too well for VLS, so they pivoted into project development instead. It remains to be seen how proficient they are at such endeavours, whilst continuing to struggle attracting strategic investors. Time will tell if IAG/Shell morph into such a partner.
Thanks Shaun
I wasnt too sure what a placement was or meant to a stock but i understand now.
also is it really true roman abramovich has money in this ?
Seems bizarre to me but great if he has
For me, the burning question is how much will IAG and Shell part with for their two thirds share in Altalto? The answer will help inform us as to the level of additional funding required over the next 5 years. Immingham will not be funded from the sale of Reactors/cata!ysts + grants alone. The larger the investment, the greater the SP uplift and ability to raise the balance required.
I'm with you there expatbrat, I jumped in yesterday at 6.3 but not too much of an investment. To me it seems there are two main types of AIM share. One that will use dilution as a means to an end, to grow the initial business before they go commercial. There are a few successful ones, ASOS, AUG etc, usually the management have a lot of skin in the game.
Then there are the companies that think they are running a science experiment and will dilute as much as humanly possible, UKOG, KDNC etc.. lots of lost money with these people as every time it starts to look good they dilute.
The Jury is still out for me on what type of company Velocys is. gla
The problem is that you know another placing will be needed when these funds are used up. Yes, VLS have more runway that planned, but the money will be gone eventually and another dilutionary placing wil happen. This might put longer term investors off. Remember that if project capital is needed, you’re talking 100’s of millions and they may turn to the market to raise at least a portion of it. Future rounds really need to come from project investors to help stop the shareholders being continually shafted.
Can someone explain why your all so happy that the share price halved ?
