Coming on steamer from America
If anyone interested - apparently now “around 30th August” for the cash. Oh well..
That should be Friday 20th (fat finger!)
Still not credited to Hargreaves Lansdowne account - was notified to expect the cash proceeds by Friday 29th Aug at the latest…
Looks like agreed between UDG and Bidco Boards - 1080p
Sold my entire holding at just over 1058p on Friday and banked a profit of >£3k - an excellent return in 9 months.
In view of the caveats and the fact that some major holders were unhappy with the higher bid I decided that it was perhaps time to sell.
I had also identified a couple of alternative investment opportunities so we move on .......
Hi Egghead. I missed Fridays rns's so was referring to those. I did wonder about the rise when I was pretty sure the 1023p was the only show in town. I intend to buy more as part of a regular investment if the SP is sticky.
Egghead, I think the big news today is that AllianzGI, UDG's largest shareholder, is reported as saying that it plans to vote in favour of the increased offer
Is there another RNS out today? Cannot see it.
Well done on holding firm Rog21. I stick with ny strategy though as it gains from upside and hedges against a slide. If it stays at 1070p for now I will buy back some though there are caveats in the RNS about reverting to the 1023p bid. Pleased anyway to have 50% see more than I expected. The market knew all along
Isn't it somewhat unusual for a bidder to make an announcement like this?
I don't think this will be enough to satisfy the major shareholders who are unhappy with the current offer.
I had been considering selling half of my holding when the price was in the 1050's. As it fell towards the current offer price I changed my mind as I wondered whether a higher bid might be forthcoming given that the price was above the offer price.
1080p - It may be possible, but is it likely, and is it enough?!
That's not a bad strategy at all, I might do the same as the price seems to be drifting down. Wish I'd sold out entirely in the 1060s - hindsight is a wonderful thing!
as I reckon wou would have to be on drugs to stay fully invested. As it drags on without a second bidder the likelyhood of a higher offer recedes. I now have half my holding left which I will settle for either way.
May get a higher offer but probably not much higher than today's price unless another bidder emerges of course.
I see that Elliott, the hedge find, has taken options equivalent to 3% of equity and they won't have done that without good reason. This is a share to watch closely over the next few weeks.
Still rising. Something’s afoot...
current bidder might sweeten the price. A wait and see.
It is reported today that Allianz GI (8.6% shareholding) said that the takeover offer is “opportunistic”.
Maybe another bidder will emerge before the offer is voted on by the shareholders .......
Dont know, but it would explain the increase above the current offer price.
Higher bid on the way. Anyone know?
Can someone explain to me why there are a billion RNS' now - what is the process once there is a offer?
Result! It has been worth holding on to this share
owned and a bit frustrating for last while but good result.
