you sound like a right smug ar5eh0le artrader. We've been let down. They didn't stick to their word. In the past, companies I have been in that did that turned out to be very dodgy.
There have been sold big sales over recent days - they must not share your bullish view. I haven't sold, but I'm nervous and ready to dump.
Very naive nonsense... This is a UK company mining in Russia and over the past 5 years at least have looked after their shareholder... it’s a pity everyone jumps ship as soon as this gets anywhere near true value... now it’s too late there’s not that many shares left to buy. Happy new £1.50 and then up up and away
Noels ... you sold right? Jumped ship and dumped ... it sounded like we lost you and not all are sad. I just wonder at £1.30 ... why are you still moaning ... jump why you can it’s going to crash to £1.50 and then you’ll still be complaining. Updates due from December will be in the next few days and end of year dividend will be disclosed once they crush the figures.
Have we been bluffed? It looks like it to me.
I have an opinion of people who say they will do things then don't.
Not exactly the same but certainly similar, Highland Gold Mining was in, in my view, bought out on the cheap. The same could happen here. The former was bought at 300p per share. A price that neither reflected its potential nor the trajectory of the Gold price at the time. However, it was a premium of 20% over the one-month volume weighted average closing price before the offer was announced (It’s also worth pointing out that in an RNS announcing the takeover, the takeover price was a premium on the one, three and six months weighted average closing prices and a 4% premium to the previous day’s close). So I don’t think that TSG will be bought for a song. But the HGM takeover also included the provision that the offer price could be reduced to reflect the cost of any dividend paid during the offer period.
That said, the Russians are skating on thin ice. If majority shareholders are willing to take advantage of their position at the cost of smaller shareholders, it raises the question as to why one would invest in the first place. It may also have wider implications for Russian-listed companies. If there is to be a takeover, I don’t think it will be a steal in terms of the price. It could happen but I don’t think it would be a smart move when viewed more broadly.
Fair enough JTD.
It's just that, due to feeling a bit let down, I like to have a bit of a moan. A couple of years ago, I topped up in the expectation of a special dividend, and not only was there no special dividend, but the share price crashed just after I added more. It has, as we know, since recovered.
Perhaps I was presumptuous in expecting that special dividend, but this year they said that there will be an announcement on the dividend policy - "upgraded". On the strength of that, again, I added more, so if it fails to appear I will be very disappointed and actually feel cheated. Maybe I'm just unlucky.
Overall, I am up considerably on TSG, and I have had a reasonable amount in dividends, so perhaps I shouldn't really moan, so I'll stay quiet as it may come later today.
Noels - I'm sure you are not the only one, and I was surprised that they suggested an update before the year end in the first place.
But they've missed dates before and then announced great news so we can't read anything into it. My previous post explains my viewpoint, and IMO this is going to remain strong into mid 2021 and if a big dividend is paid we can assume no blocking shareholder bid.
There is still time today to make an announcement and a reasonable explanation that they wanted to tally the year end production.
The last day of December and no announcement. Why not?
I'm nervous and having flashbacks to when they restated the reserves and the share price crashed.
Not the expected RNS, but there is still time to release another to fulfil the promise of a dividend RNS before year end .
The holding RNS perhaps clears the way for what they want to say, could be a large pay out, but after the disappointment (though profitably experience) I had with Russian shenanigans with HGM (my view is Russian elite grabbing assets), I'm wary when shares change hands with large shareholders.
If any of the concert party bought recently that put a base under any potential offer of well over £1, though if they made s move I would expect £2 + We are kidding ourselves if we pretend this does not look like a very juicy morsel for some of the cash rich entities out there.
I always assumed paying the cash out in dividends and thus encouraging a high SP was a good sign the management wanted to remain AIM listed.
Last Christmas I gave you low priced shares
But the very next year you gave them away
This year, to save me from tears
I've sold them to someone special
Thanks for your reply jointhedots. I wasn't trying talk this down. It is just that it seemed odd to me, to sell when there should be be good news tomorrow and so I was trying to get opinions on what might be going on. Are they expecting the news on the dividend to be a disappointment and so the sp will drop back?
I'm hoping for news that sends the sp up by at least 10p.
NoelS - there'll always be someone selling (dumping) shares. It doesn't matter when they're gone someone else will take the shares. in the current strong sentiment that means someone looking for an upward movement.
I think you're getting too hung up on what are essentially small trades, it's only a concern if you don't believe is the company's business proposition.
Now someone dumps nearly £20 grand's worth
30-Dec-20 14:00:23 126.00 15,610 Sell* 126.00 127.00 19.67k
Everyone knows that there is news to come at the end of the year .... lots of it .
Someone doesn't feel the excitement, they dumped £33K worth.
30-Dec-20 08:30:03 122.00 27,149 Sell* 122.00 125.00 33.12k
Do they expect a drop in the sp?
I not a great follower of chart gazing for AIM companies, most of it is a nonsense for tiddler companies that are driven by sentiment that changes with every RNS.
However, being stuck in over Christmas and with B*gger all on the TV I took a look at the historical information and SP performance charts for my investments. For TSG it showed just what a fantastic investment this has been over the past 5 years.
- It has provided a compound annual appreciation of investment value of shareholdings of around 50%
- Paid excellent dividends on top of that.
- Most interesting of all in the last 2 years the SP has roughly doubled each year running up to thec end of December and risen in H1 of each year. If that occurs this coming year (when all indicators look positive) then a SP of £2.40 looks possible.
SP progress:
15p end of Dec 2015
41p end of Dec 2016
44p end of Dec 2017
34p end of Dec 2018
67p end of Dec 2019
120 p end of Dec 2020
??? p end of Dec 2021
The average 50% rise provides £1.80 + dividends
Doubling provides £2.40 + dividends
We have a lot to look forward to here, irrespective of Covid or Brexit.
Excitement in the market this morning at the prospect of a Brexit deal, but IMO it will be short lived as reality sets in and the Christmas spirit subsides.
There will be a deal, and Boris will sell it as a victory even if it is capitulation, actually there must be a deal even if it is next year, but then I'm afraid the true impact will be felt, lets hope they were not lying after all. Irrespective of what it is, it's clear there will be some disruption on top of the other problems we face as a country.
So though today may be a non-entity of a day for gold miners and news on vaccines weigh, the proposition for investing remains strong going into 2021.
When the Brexit deal is finally settled (EU member states can veto any deal they don't like), the other factors, primarily a nation supressed by C19, travel restriction and money printing will come to the fore and continue to bolster the safe haven attraction of gold stocks in the UK.
I wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and new year, but I'm afraid you have to be a bit of a Grinch wrt the new year to invest in gold . lol If everything is rosy in the cottage there is no point investing in gold.
We should hear about this too before the end of the year . The Rodnikova deposit is estimated to contain 1 million ounces of gold with an average grade of 5.3g/t, according to the mineral resources report approved by the Russian State Commission for Reserves.
4 trading days left in December after today to announce a dividend - so imminent is fair to say.
I expect any announcement will include a further explanation of why - i.e. some extra good news.
Noel, thanks for your contribution.
I was about to say that the reason I hold such discussion here is because there is such rampant censorship everywhere else, it is one of the last places on the internet where you can warn people....but now I notice that Wrongun (along with his posts) has disappeared.
Let us hope he is not a victim of Arkanside. Maybe they've just sent him to the Digital Gulag.
With the year end only a few trading sessions away it's clear TSG are now guaranteed a great year, IMO largely due to V25, the company said the strong performance was "a testament to the quality and grades of the orebody at Vein 25" Those grades will be available to the company in bulk for the whole of 2021.
Guidance on 2021 production is due in January - "TSG intends to provide a production update for Q4 2020 and guidance for 2021 in January 2021"
We will find out soon about a dividend, a week ago they said "Updated guidance on dividends for the full year 2020 is expected to be announced by the end of December."
WRT the market. after a great year gold looks to end the year within 10% of the all time high, companies dependent upon a buoyant economy are looking very shaky with Brexit and Covid still not sorted and Gold is a safe(ish) haven.
Though most shareholders are standing firm, with all this going for TSG I can't understand why anyone is selling their shares, I don't know of any better balanced place for capital appreciation and risk management. But each to his own, we all live with our own decisions - I'm just looking forward to a year end Christmas present from TSG.
david - I'm resisting the temptation to engage with the rubbish again having made my feelings clear already.
Like all extremists, there is no telling them, they can't step back and believe they can somehow enlighten sane people. The internet should have been a magnificent media for communicating truth, it's such a shame what it's become.
News should follow a string of 5000 buys....as usual
It’s OK the Russians are going to burn most of these posts on the grounds that they are harmful to one’s sanity... more news coming in hours 1m ozs will lead the discussions
Can anyone point me in the direction of a sane discussion?
