Excitement in the market this morning at the prospect of a Brexit deal, but IMO it will be short lived as reality sets in and the Christmas spirit subsides.
There will be a deal, and Boris will sell it as a victory even if it is capitulation, actually there must be a deal even if it is next year, but then I'm afraid the true impact will be felt, lets hope they were not lying after all. Irrespective of what it is, it's clear there will be some disruption on top of the other problems we face as a country.
So though today may be a non-entity of a day for gold miners and news on vaccines weigh, the proposition for investing remains strong going into 2021.
When the Brexit deal is finally settled (EU member states can veto any deal they don't like), the other factors, primarily a nation supressed by C19, travel restriction and money printing will come to the fore and continue to bolster the safe haven attraction of gold stocks in the UK.
I wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and new year, but I'm afraid you have to be a bit of a Grinch wrt the new year to invest in gold . lol If everything is rosy in the cottage there is no point investing in gold.
Someone doesn't feel the excitement, they dumped £33K worth.

Everyone knows that there is news to come at the end of the year .... lots of it .

NoelS - there'll always be someone selling (dumping) shares. It doesn't matter when they're gone someone else will take the shares. in the current strong sentiment that means someone looking for an upward movement.
I think you're getting too hung up on what are essentially small trades, it's only a concern if you don't believe is the company's business proposition.
Thanks for your reply jointhedots. I wasn't trying talk this down. It is just that it seemed odd to me, to sell when there should be be good news tomorrow and so I was trying to get opinions on what might be going on. Are they expecting the news on the dividend to be a disappointment and so the sp will drop back?
I'm hoping for news that sends the sp up by at least 10p.
