Surprised it's taken this long to reach mainstream news. The news has been about HGV driver shortages for several weeks now; why should bus drivers be any different?

We have been very short of drivers for quite a few years now ever since they put new drivers wages down so low. I am on £17 pph new staff around 11 or 12 so don't stay as they can earn that stacking shelves in supermarkets. TFL and councils will have to raise the money for companies so that they can raise wages. As a driver I love it as I earn £180 for working a rest day and companies do better too. With already employed staff doing extra work they don't pay out extra for new staff in pensions and holidays.
I didn't vote for Brexit but I have to admit that Brexit is doing exactly what it was supposed to do; putting power back into the hands of working people. Nobody likes inflation, especially the middle class who want everything for nothing. The Eastern Europeans will not return now they realise the standard of living and job opportunities in their home countries is far better than UK (I lived/worked in Wroclaw, Poland for 3 years and saw it first hand). We will all have to get used to paying a bit extra and if some of that goes to working British people to give them a fighting chance of a comfortable life then we all benefit as a nation.
I think the hgv salary has always been low, the Europeans coming over made it stay low which made more profits for the company. Companies will still make a profit but just a smaller one. They have benefited paying drivers a discounted rate for many years.
Give everyone a laugh Moonieman, tell us what your daft app is saying today! Must be @ 9p I reckon, going by it’s past performance.
I’m still on 54p average here and handsome profit taken in the spring! Think you might be right about something at last, I could be next Einstein. Thanks buddy and GL.
Well I left my depot in Cambridgeshire in June..... since then another 30 odd drivers have left at my depot alone... wages are at an all time low.... shift patterns are appalling.... management bullying is prolific. They keep on blabbing about how Stagecoach is one big happy family and giving group hugs... management keep telling drivers they’re making no money.... drivers are driving around in defective busses..... how do I know they’re defective??.... because the dashboard tells the drivers the bus they are driving is defective....and if it’s raining, it’s usually raining in the drivers cab.... if you want a truer picture of stagecoach, visit the indeed site and read the ex employees reviews.... nationwide they’re beginning to have a problem..... as per the union...... useless.... oh and most of my old colleagues have gone to Stagecoach’s competition rather than LGV driving.... I went to first group and loving it...
