I was under the impression the initial SMR design was done and being put in front of regulators this year. Well according to this: https://www.bamnuttall.co.uk/news/rolls-royce-small-modular-reactor-consortium/
'It has also announced it is aiming to be the first design to be assessed by regulators in the second half of 2021 in the newly-opened assessment window, which will keep it on track to complete its first unit in the early 2030s and build up to 10 by 2035.
As the power station’s design has adjusted and improved during this latest phase – with more than 200 major engineering decisions made during this latest phase – the team has optimised the configuration, efficiency and performance criteria of the entire power station , which has increased its expected power capacity, without additional cost, from 440 megawatts (MW) to 470MW'
Remember what I said on Tuesday 10:48;
Hold your horses, we got budget coming and the risk of interest rate rises.
But David7015 POO POOED me, rather rudely I thought, saying "perhaps in line for the most naive comment of the day" .
I say spread your bets, dont put everything on RR, because you will have a long wait for return. It will come but money to be made elsewhere before RR makes a move. Hate dead money. PPS will be good long term and I have made great gains on First Group, Mastons today due to the budget. Good luck everyone.
Metom: Not sure you are cut out for investing in shares. Look at the BB’s of AWE & DARK and think how some of the shareholders there must be feeling after the last weeks’s share drops.
Shocking absolutely shocking . Rr will again be on the worst watch list . I didn’t expect this to be honest . I’m gonna have to get out this mess .

There are very few young engineers with the training to design a nuclear power plant, perhaps you could find some information that disproves this statement !
All the engineers with the complete expertise to design and build a nuclear reactor , retired years ago or are dead, why do you think we have to use foreign designs ?
Do you even know which country built the first nuclear reactor for creating electricity?
The SMR are a spin of from the nuclear plants in submarines, the originals were America designs .
Green :))
MV:
This bit: there are very few young engineers here now, who would know where to start designing a nuclea

Labour sold out more than the nuclear industry, the Labour leader Micheal Foot and his wife were both taking Soviet money as were several high union leaders led by Scargill and Jones. Ted Heath was getting £20.000 per year in the 1970s to advice China, work that out!.
Our so called elite are actually a bunch of criminals.
And so many do appear to have of shore accounts to hide their fiddles and of course they would not fiddle their expenses would they.
The above can be googled .

Where do I state RR does not what it is doing? I have shares in the company.
It is the governments and civil service who do not give a damn about British industry and have not for decades, the financial services were the only part of the economy that thought was important.
Most of our nuclear know how, is lost the SMRs are a spin off from the nuclear submarine technology, which RR and BAE of course know about, which is based originally on USA designs.
Look at the idiot in No 10 more concerned with saying we will be net zero in 2050, well he will not be PM in 29 years or may be not even alive, he spouts rubbish.
Labour sold out the Nuclear industry when they supported the "ban the bomb" movement
Wind was the passion at the time, however they worked out that they could only harness wind at certain speeds, so the logic of putting a few hundred turbines in the middle of the north sea was abandoned.
You cannot change the past, but absolutely you can learn from it, which is why they are now looking at it, and removing the legacy approaches of China.
Edward75.
Facts are not hate and anger, but facts, the nuclear industry in this country was purposely dismantled or perhaps you are not old enough to remember. Which party sold off our last remaining piece of nuclear know how, Labour.
The aerospace industry was similarly destroyed we did lead the world in peaceful nuclear power and aerospace 5 decades ago. The so called elites sold us down the river and continued the progress with China allowing them unfettered access to our technology , something they have due to public demand started slowly to stop.
You say the past can't be mended, your wrong learn from history and do things right.
And nothing hurts me to any great extent, I am just aware of the sell out the elite have committed to this country, why do you think the likes of Blair had the countries interest at heart or his bank balance in the British
MVarawa Your hate and anger seems to directed at everyone and everything will only hurt you. Think of something positive for the day.
"Think of tomorrow,
the past can't be mended."
MV: believe or not RR do know what they are doing! I prefer to invest in the future and not dwell on the distant past! Have a wonderful day!

I friends whom were all engineers & draftsmen at British Nuclear Fuels, all lost their jobs in the nuclear industry years ago all now retired, there are very few young engineers here now, who would know where to start designing a nuclear plant. And like our aerospace industry it was planned by past governments, our politicians actually hate this country, hence the rear guard action over 4 years to keep us tied to the EU. Boris is actually thick, that is his excuse and he surrounded himself with equally thick people.
There is a thriving nuclear industry within the UK that can support future deployment through the transfer of skills and knowledge from the workforce and apprenticeships at Hinkley Point C (HPC), nuclear services and projects based in Barnwood, Gloucestershire, welding manufacturing centres in Glasgow that can grow from long-term nuclear energy contracts, and the initiative led by Rolls-Royce to develop a Small Modular Reactor designed and manufactured in the UK
