" SHELL has gone ex dividend for a few weeks now so it’s too late to get a dividend payment"
yes Maverick7..indeed so...I refered to "gets paid" on Dec 18th ..I wasnt refering to ex-div day...but payment day
Payment day div earners who choose to buy shares with their dividend tend to push the SP up and they pay more for their div shares ....they arent daft..they make sure you get fewer shares for your dividend money !!
SHELL has gone ex dividend for a few weeks now so it’s too late to get a dividend payment
But the last two quarter results havent been too great.....and yes Shell is a well run company ...but the chemicals side isnt doing so well due to the economical slowdown and the downstream business isnt delivering great margins either.
The analysts expect great things from them and screw the SP each quarter results if they dont get achieved
In between the results... then you do get the speculation in play , based on oil prices, gas prices and Trump, Dollar,Fed etc..and it is a case of whether you can keep a track of the reality along side the speculation that goes on...
You certainly dont want to be out of a shares like SHELL if they do , at some point get a trade deal sorted...even a phase 1 will assist ...
...but...a strong move up..... Personally I am not so sure ....fair few times it has been better to trade the share than take the dividend if you have managed to track the reality and sell the speculation
Cetainly if the General Election sees sterling tank and a recession or further interest rate cuts then the Income seekers will scramble to pay more for the Div...
Nat Gas prices have been awful this year ....hopefully demand now picks up over the winter....China demand hits peak
Gotta watch how much supply is coming online....
I think the next Div gets paid 18th December so..there "should" be an uptick then...
