Decided to book with fastjet hope they don't cancel this one like last time.
tyche100: That’s a most welcome post to read to end the week on. I don’t know if you’re invested but, as one who is, I feel like thanking you for coming back from Precision Air after your dreadful experiences with fastjet last summer. I sincerely hope you have good trips with us this time with prompt departures, courteous crew, no hassle and that your faith in fastjet will have been restored – please take a moment or three to report back on your return, whether good, bad or indifferent.
Hi Marksman. Not invested at the moment but still watching and I feel the time is coming. Sure When I return I will write a quick review. I did use Fjet over 20 times in in 2014 and didn't have any issues whatsoever it was just that couple of times I mentioned previously. Only negative point is normally my travel company books all of my travel from UK but with Fastjet that's not possible as it says on the website you need to show the credit card it was paid on when checking in although they never asked me for it last time. No big deal for me as I used my company card but it could put people off. On the positive side the website is easy to use and the flight times were better and slightly cheaper than precision.
"Only negative point is normally my travel company books all of my travel from UK but with Fastjet that's not possible as it says on the website you need to show the credit card it was paid on when checking in although they never asked me for it last time." The above is a very strange requirement for any airline. I, and my wife, travel frequently between UK and Spain, sometimes together and other times separately. All flight bookings irrespective of whose travelling are made with either my debit or credit card, which is obviously always in my possession, therefore on the occasions my wife travels on her own she would be unable to present the card used to pay for the flight. This, by the way is all hypothetical, as we check-in online, but I'm sure you'll understand my point, which is that the person making the booking is not necessarily the person travelling.
It's for security. Most people in Tanzania don't have a bank account so either pay by cash at the ticket offices or by mobile transfer such as tigo. Not as rare as you might think. https://travel.stackexchange.com/questions/18019/someone-else-is-booking-international-ticket-for-me-using-their-credit-or-debit
As tyche states this practice is more common in Africa than might be assumed. If I book a flight on SAA for my.wife using my debit card either she has to take it with her for inspection or else a.photocopy signed by myself.formally.confirming how the ticket was purchased.KQ less demanding. So it is not a.FJET specific practice. Not sure if this requirement is driven by the.airlines or.the banks/'VISA
Or even Africa specific. Same prob for tickets purchased on corporate cards when traveling in India but they never check.
Sadly before I even got to write my review I just recieved a text saying they have cancelled my flight and have rebooked me on another flight which is no good for me as its 15 hours later, As I booked 3 flights on one card the fastjet sales team can't be trusted just to cancel one of the three so I will now need to get a refund and use precision air. I understand why probably because they didnt make enough sales on that flight but it goes against the whole business model as how can you book knowing there is a strong chance they will cancel it. Such a shame but fastjet can't be trusted at this moment in time.
tyche100....Sorry to hear. Which flight was it ?
KJO - DAR 05th may 19:50, cost me more than double to rebook with precision.
tyche100: I am truly sorry to hear of this outcome – sorry for the personal inconvenience to you and for how it reflects on the airline’s on-going neglect for its passengers. Your final two sentences are so true. I, too, would like to know which flight it was, since the Updates panel on our Home Page has been boasting “There are no disruptions at the moment” since over two weeks ago. Of course, our Facebook pages are as unreliable as our flights are, I know. It is surely better to honour our schedules even at a loss than to continue to damage whatever shred of reputation we have left by cancelling any flight no matter how many of its seats are sold, especially since our total load available is being depleted. It is imperative IMO that people get to know that they can rely on a fastjet flight that is advertised as operating, if we are ever going to build the business.
.................."fastjet can't be trusted at this moment in time" When could they be trusted?
