at 134 last week. Will be interested to see what Rusoil's next move is and would be surprised is they don't eventually take this over - they pretty much control the BOD anyway already!
Not really, I have several other safe & boring stocks to balance out the exciting and unpredictable Exillon. It is my pension after all! Cheers
No - just this one marc.
in for a penny , in for a pound. I like stocks with good risk/reward profiles and this seems to fit the bill. maybe downside 20p but from what you say upside could be multiples of that. I have given up trying to make money on the exploration stocks and am only going to buy producing companies from now on ( at least until the exploration sector gains favour again ). other stock I like here is amerisur , another that I think will do very well over the next few years. thanks for the advice , nice to find a board with well mannered helpful people on it instead of the usual childish behaviour. are there any other similar names either of you own ? thanks marc
Yes - I think that's a very good summary of where we are.
The quality of the stock itself can't be questioned, in fact I've seen valuations of £8 considered reasonable and comparable to other similar stocks. So what's keeping the price low? I think it's a case of shareholder trust/mistrust. The departure of the directors last month saw the price plummet because people thought the rumours regarding price manipulation in order to buy it out on the cheap were true. Now the price is creeping back because there's enough buyers out there who don't believe the new major shareholders would act in a such a way. I've got no reason to doubt their integrity so I'm staying put. Having said that, I admit I do have some doubts. Big risks for big gains. That's why we do it!! Perhaps not one for the pension funds.
lol marc cheers! I suppose a few weeks or so ago there were fears that it could be nationalised but that would ignore the consequences of such behaviour for all Russian stocks. Putin discount would become very significant as confidence in their listed companies and stocks would be through the floor. The company announced that it was entering into a formal sale process several months back. This saw the sp rise to as high as £3.50 if memory serves. Then it fell away as it was announced that the sale would not be taking place. But it just goes to show how much of a discount this stock is truly trading at. New BoD - who knows what their strategy will be. All I know is that I've been in and out of this for 2.5 years and over that period production has increased astronomically. They have got all the infrastructure in place to keep producing now too. As far as I can see it's a really sound investment. Yes it'll have ups and downs, but value will always out.
sounds like good advice..and from someone with the coolest name on lse too. is it likely the company is bought out ? I can see it has a few big Russian shareholders and not much of a free float. Is there a danger that they try and buy it on the cheap ? (essar springs to mind ). when the price rose to 350p was that because the company was put up for sale and if so why did no sale occur ? sorry for all the questions ,I bought this as a quick trade and am now looking at adding more to make it a long term holding. thanks marc
Anybody know or care to guess who Schroder sold 4.97% (8m shares) to and at what price? Strange we haven't seen another notification on the purchase side.
so = sure!
Still plenty to come imo. News of sale saw it go to £3.50! It's a huge company and produces A LOT! Big future here and should continue to correct itself upwards. Not so UKR issue is that big of an impact after all. More that the BoD resigned, but ultimately, money talks. Good luck.
i bought into this at 120p as it looked very oversold and extremely good value despite the worries over management/Russian owners etc . Can anyone who knows the company better than I advise what they think the future should bring for this company as there seems to be both negative and positive aspects to it. still looks cheap to me but are we getting nearer to fair value here? I did see Titan investments (on the spreadbet blog ) named this as their preferred bet once the Russian situation calms down so maybe that has attracted a bit of interest here. thanks marc
Well once the situation in Russia calms down sp will re-trace to at least 160-180ish IMO Production rump up is going well, infrastructure is finished and eventually Big Russian Shareholder will buy it out. GLA
Good to see this rerating still. Should continue now imo up to 160s.
I'm invested in Exi and watched Friday's events unfold with alarm. The danger is the company is rudderless at the moment and share price may fall further. But I bet their working all weekend to put a new CEO/My in early next week. Having also thought about possibility of company being nationalised or bought private on the cheap, the Russians would have to tread carefully because there will be no credibility or support for Russian stocks on LSE in the future, and Russians will find it difficult to trade or raise money on Western stock markets that they so desperately need. Such a move would undermine confidence in all Russian stocks, so we may have a Russian at the helm but I'm sure it will recover
"Clearly, the concern for minority investors is that the familiar faces of the past are no longer with the company and there is little certainty over quite how things will proceed in the months ahead," Mirabaud Securities analysts wrote in a note. The brokerage, however, said Khotin's clout in Russia may benefit the company in the longer term. Exillon's shareholder list has seen considerable churn since December, when founder and largest shareholder Kazakh businessman - Maksat Arip - sold his stake to Khotin.
I would like to think so, but my feeling is it will fall further to begin with as people digest the news about the director resignations, it is a real crappy situation here
Will we see 1.50 Monday ?
Totally agree. This will move north on Monday if they freeze Roman Abrovovich's assets. Worth a punt which I did but only a small one.
Absolutely. The results were superb, but of course the risk is the main man in the Kremlin. I think people are worried about nationalisation, but I doubt that will happen in reality. I think we will see a reset on Monday, unless WW3 starts on Sunday!
Got to be worth a massive opportunity now for a big player
Doom and gloom + Friday for those with balls and vision ....hmm
surely this just means Rusoil will make a lowball bid...
Putin discount!
