Interesting Bricks I thought it was encouraging that CRU Group were forecasting over two decades which should allay some fears that all this is happening while we're likely a few years off production.
"Zinc is also the key component of some utility-scale batteries, whose current market is small but – in CRU’s view – has the potential to become a fast-growing one, adding to overall renewables-related zinc demand".
Sheds the battery debate will continue for a while though but I also believe Zinc has a role to play in the future…. https://www.powermag.com/zinc-ion-batteries-are-a-scalable-alternative-to-lithium-ion/
Agree it all looks very promising Mm's I think Toral could be massive for the area, also think we'll here more on Antonina eventually. Nice piece on mining.com from CRU Group forecasting that zinc demand will grow over the next two decades mainly on offshore wind farm uses. Also mentions applications in batteries which kind of contradicts another article from a few weeks ago suggesting the Zn won't share in the green revolution. Does suggest continuing reduction in automotive demand though.
@Shed i think the spanish news is more aprropriate
We end this week by sharing a piece of news brought from the professional social profile of our CEO , Laurence Read , who shares an example of magnificent management that has resulted in the launch of two mining projects in an area of ??Cornwall.
Laurence Read has recently been visiting Cornwall Province (UK), a major mining area where, by the way, part of her family is originally from; specifically his great-great-grandfather, who was 'Foreman' of a copper project in the area.
The truth is that we find some similarities between this area and the recent mining impulse that it has received from the institutions and the population, and the Toral Project that we are developing in El Bierzo.
In both cases, the work teams behind the projects are actively:
- Identifying the optimal financing conditions that have made it possible to directly apply investment activity in the area.
- renewing the development and application of the best ESG practices, in a region with a mining history and tradition.
- with concern about depopulation indicators and the firm intention of contributing to the revitalization of the economy and the social fabric.
- To promote qualified and quality jobs among the potential workforce in the area, where the training of workers who require it in collaboration with other institutions will be prioritized.
Key from this to the locals
Identifying the optimal financing conditions that have made it possible to directly apply investment activity in the area. Its coming just a waiting game...Lets see whos going to get board...You cant make statements like this and have nothing!!
Is the 'value event' that LR's joined Extinction Rebellion?

Laurence Read shared a post: A very busy week at Europa Metals as we work across a number of fronts developing the Toral Pb, Zn & Ag projects ability to benchmark its ESG footprint. Delighted to be invited by the UK Govt Department for International Trade for the Spanish bilateral seminar on "Greening the Mining Sector." at the end of the month. So; 10 years ago I was banging my head against a brick wall working with a mining operation that had best practice environmental regulation/safety protocols being undercut by informal, unregulated, unsafe production that had huge environmental impacts. Whats changed? I think supply chain transparency and the conditions under which the integrated metals markets operate and end user consumer awareness has moved on. It all may have started with DRC phone products but the ethical requirements now couple with, frankly, capitalism which rather cynically always helps. Better ethical regulations means better regulation generally and long term licence security is increasingly a major challenge in traditional 'homes' for mines around the world. Tax transparency and FPIC also support project longevity alongside all important proper hyrdo work to examine appropriate water conditions for a development. While I operate in a developed infrastructure/regulatory zone (well I had to get that in), the significant challenge will be to provide ESG compliant support over the next 30 years to regions such as Africa in, yes, regulation but also real infrastructure such as consistent power provision and xborder integrated transmission strategies, with the knock on affect of create better social conditions and regional stability. #supplychain #mining https://lnkd.in/ev-3U6Z
