@smalltrader Post hoc ergo propter hoc
Good Morning small trader and others. We seem to be getting bogged down in a much heated debate with the posters who to be frank have never had a good word to say about the company. Some will be ptp. They only offer an opinion, the same as you or I and as PW has pointed out recently, it takes more time to reply to them than simply skipping over them. If it is of any assistance to you I have the likes of D9, Bonkers and others on filter not just as naysayers but for various reasons. Others I just either don't reply to or have fun with.
Don't get involved in their disruption or get distracted by them and remain focussed on what is now in front of us. It has taken us several progressive months to get to where we now are.
*Bond premieres on the Red carpet this coming Tuesday - 28th.
*Opening weekend starts on 30th Sept. US 8th October and many many countries in between. High pre-sale tickets we are all aware of. I would not wish to be a walk-in trying to get a last minute seat.
* Just about to enter Q4 with several high end films in there.
* Court case is going far better than anyone pre-start had ever imagined. We have had legal input throughout and our defence, and don't forget counterclaim has been impeccable.
If you want to do anything to help the cause of CINE and the full theatrical industry then get yourself booked up for Bond and treat the family or friends and take them along as well. etc. In that way you introduce or reintroduce them to the cinema experience and how relatively safe it is, and inexpensive. Or Marvel Carnage, or Halloween Kills or Dune, (or whats on presently that you haven't already seen)
It's the weekend and lifes too short. Get out, make the most of it and enjoy it.
Wellington that was a bit arrogant response. As you claim that Bond news is priced in, can you explain why the price went up by 12% this week? Let's see if you can come up with a sensible response or a nonsense one.
@smalltrader - I'm sorry to disagree, but that's nonsense.
The Bond release date has been known for some time.
Wellington, good to read your post. Regarding covid and people coming out to see cinemas, box office revenue was 12% more than 2019 levels for Shang-Chi movie. But agree that cinema attendance is not more than 2019 levels every week. If there is a good movie out then surely people are coming out to watch in big numbers beating 2019 levels.
But I do not think Bond news is priced in. From 60p early in this week to 72p, which is a 20% rise! If it is all priced in then within few days, there cannot be a 20% rise?
I get that everyone is excited for Bond as it rings the tills etc etc, but for me, it's important for a different reason.
With regards to Bond's realease and rockets to the moon etc, I doubt that will make a big difference.
It may hurt us if it is a turkey, or it may help us if it's a winner. Either way, it's mostly priced in.
However, the reason I hope it's a success, is that it will bring people of all ages ("the masses") back into the cinema, and break the shibboleth that Covid has placed on the populace that 'we don't go to the cinema as it's an enclosed space an' we get Covid there, innit'.
So I view Bond as a pump primer - get people energised and doing what they used to do and then with a pretty good slate, the numbers will come back.
PS - Please don't tell me how great Cineworld are at doing Covid secure (C-19 is spread by aerosol and droplets and isn't fomite in nature thus the whole disinfecting surfaces thing is a waste of time) because it's irrrelevant. We are in the world where people have had their behaviour changed via government propaganda (for good or ill, reader's choice). What we need is something to bring people back out of their shells and getting used to going out to the cinema, as a matter of course.
