Will be worth checking shortracker tomorrow to see if the shorts have started to close
This has had a sudden pick up since lunch.
The obvious answer is The Bod should start a share buyback programme. If shorters are trying to reduce SP let us shareholders enjoy the ride by reducing the amount of shares in issue which is really increasing the worth of our shares (opposite to dillution). Also buying shares in a meaningful manner by BoD members. 77 shares hardly inspires anyone!
4.4m trade. shorters are at work increasing their positions. Board need to come up with new strategy as high yield dividend is not the answer here. operational costs have increased year on year and cannot be said to be "exceptional". Costs of servicing debt is a drain.
Ha. Opened at 200! MMs must have misjudged sentiment. I bought sufficiently few of these that they are not worth selling without a bigger rise. Alternatively will hold and see how it plays out
Yep, right on cue. Was expecting exactly that so bough at 170 and 175 prior to result and sold it all at 196. All good.
board strategy looks flawed. time for an exit to a PE buyer
The market always reacts very positively to ARW results because they are excellent every time. The problem is what usually happens the next day or the day after. Shorts increase and everyone abansons ship..
Me included
Yep. Have to put my phone down for an hour now so hopefully will still be going strong at 9. Not sure what results the market were expecting for this to have reacted so positively...?
Wow. Great start
Also, why has the RNS not appeared on here? Or at least I can’t see it. Had to google search to find it.....
Hmmmm, dividend growth slowing down (interim suggested a 25% increase). Basic EPS decreased although adjusted eps is up but sooner or later they need to stop adjusting this as it is no longer “after exceptionals” if you have exceptionals each and every year. I am not sure where they get their debt to EBITDA ratio from. I assume just current borrowings as opposed to non current.
All in all I would suggest there is enough in there for the bulls to remain bullish and the shortest to continue shorting....
Nice. Looks good to me.
For a very small holding
Opened pretty high this morning then sharply fell... wonder why? Still on the fence here. Had something similar with Playtech last week when shares went to 350p day before results. I ended up not buying, they are now at 420p.
Skeletor, my understanding is that this is indeed one of the reasons for the shorts. Personally I have bought anyway but I get why it may put some people off.
Any thoughts on the debt? Or am I hugely misunderstanding the key financials?
Nice £86.75k buy , bodes well going toward.
Was on the verge of hitting the BUY button but did my usual one last scan of trading statements and noticed that the current and targeted EBITDA to debt ratio seemed high. This prompted me to re look at the last FY results and look at current + non current borrowings. These seem huge (over £900m) vs an operating profit of £100m. Interest was £70m so they are shipping 70% off operating profit out as interest payments?
Happy for someone to put me straight on here and re-convince me to hit the BUY button but surely this is the reason for the shorts?
Ive bought in here too expecting great news.
Indeed. I don't think there is any reason to expect anything bad, so far results have always been excellent. I suppose it will depend on the forward looking statements as always. A bit wary of the shorts still sitting at 12% though. I have recently added at 170 and 175 nonetheless.
Bodes well for tomorrow. Looks like someone’s got sight of the figures!
What’s anyone’s predictions before results?
At 172 this morning
