Agreed BH............ tuff times out there for everyone...........!
and it's good to see Nick and team adjusting, in order to maximise....... :)
"doing what we can to be creative with the growers we contact and the payment terms we can offer", more monthly revenue? buy now pay later? discount (doubt it given quality) ?
All the best (encouraging that in these times, they are "firm" that demand is there, and "know" that the quality of the seed is also there :)
Stay safe in that garden, cuts 'n strains an all that........... :()
that's a very interesting article with farmers and growers both continuing as normal and also waiting to see what they want to do. Overall, the assumption that fewer growers might switch TO hemp seems fair. But if you know what you are doing then you are still going to GROW Hemp but you might wait to get the best deal.
Thanks for posting that Chesh. I read that as...'We can sell are seeds for sure... but we need to be canny about getting the best price' So, I expect they will sell some early for a base price but hold tight to a chunk to get a better price as we move in to May. There is still a good 6 and maybe 8 weeks to sell these seeds and the new ones coming through... plenty of time. But as the RNS today shows, ZOE is affected by C19 like all business, but not nearly as bad a some.
And the Schraders can see the value in the business at 5p, that's for sure.
Busy day in the garden and now tincture with my cider. Nice
Touching on some of what NT says in the e-mail. Some growers are certainly looking to be more causious as they go into this years growing season. Whilst others are eager to get planting. (end of May begining of June)
“We’re frankly not ordering the normal amount from our processors, because we’re not only preparing for a downturn but we need to manage our cash and inventory more effectively,” says Terwilliger of CBD brand Balanced Health Botanicals.
"Whilst young plant producers have been reaching out to confirm their orders and are eager to get their crops planted this season."

Its a tough read, but please read twice or more, cos honest and they defo on side and working hard for the co. and us SH'ers...........!
"Hi Chesh
The hemp seed market is considerably more competitive than it was last year. It's a high value crop and it is no surprise to see further participants - Zoetic of course is an example. However, we were prepared for that and Covid-19 is having no more particular effect on the hemp seed market than it is on any industry. Businesses are short of cash and so are restricting purchases to those areas they consider essential and, in times of economic uncertainty, human nature is to reduce risk. So, for example, a corn grower who might previously have been considering diversifying into hemp may feel now is not the time. Or a hemp grower that was preparing to pay a premium to feminised seeds may now take their changes on a bag of regular seeds.
On a "price per seed" basis, hemp is an expensive crop and many farmers may feel cautious about taking that risk or they may prefer to stick with something they are more familiar with and feel could have a wider market appeal (hence the corn example).
To date, travel bans have not been a problem for us and neither is there any restriction on seed trading. We know we have a good quality product and we are doing what we can to be creative with the growers we contact and the payment terms we can offer. The selling task is going to be a lot harder than we planned for a few weeks ago but we remain firm in our belief that demand is there if we work to find it.
And, yes, you are welcome to post this on the bulletin boards.
Kind regards
Nick
Zoetic"
All the best (work hard Nick 'n team, but stay safe at the same time............ :)
