Ps....happy to be corrected on anything I say here.
I'm no expert, just tying to read something from the scraps of info we pi's are given, but the way I see it , Arthurian +Arix had at least a combined holding of 4.5% recently and have sold 1.3% into the news. This leaves Arix alone with 1.2% to sell atm. Haven't got a clue where Polar picked up their holding from, as I mentioned before Renaissance had a position which they sold. The problem with the likes of Woodfords funds is they invest in different companies who then go on to make investments themselves......some of which criss-cross each other and it makes it difficult to know exactly what position the original fund is actually holding in a particular company. All a case of smoke and mirrors and that's the way they like it.
The report makes interesting reading. If Arthurian or Arix have lowered their stock from 4.2% to 3.2% it certainly hasn't been done in the last year as I mentioned previously Arthurian have held 3.2% for well over 9 months now . After reading the report you mention, I just wonder whether Arthurian and Arix will be forced to split their stake holding to 2% and 1.2% meaning they will drop off the corporate holding as thats set at 3%. I know you think that Arix will be selling off 1.2% soon but surely whatever they intended to do, they have done, hence the RNS.
We badly need rid of any holding Woodford may have here (not any investment made on behalf of the Wales fund) because his fund will use any good news as an opportunity to sell into the rise and by doing so, kill it. Having said that, thankfully his holding is quite small now and hopefully good news can absorb the remaining amount. Polar got in at rock bottom, if positive news continues, others may have to bite the bullet and pay higher for Woodfords remaining stock. A lot of Bio's have taken a beating because of his demise, ( thankfully he wasn't a major holder here ) and as his other holding are absorbed into the market, hopefully we will see some growth coming back to the Bio sector.
