hi Owls
China don't make Mercedes and even if they did WTO rules would apply.
So reckon we'll have to make them ourselves, and generate highly skilled jobs.
We are not important to EU and it has been said that they may want to punish us with a bad deal, pour encourager les autres.
Fortunately this does not seem to be the case.
BoL
If the EU increase prices on our imports then we can either buy from elsewhere in the world at a lower price than we do now or produce the goods ourselves, thereby generating more highly skilled jobs in the UK. The EU export to us more than they import so it is in their interest to agree a good trade deal.
Dodgy subject
Hi Bamps,
Any ideas about who paid for them ?
Bus adverts
who are the liars? what are the lies?
Hi Owls
Things will Not be equal. All existing Deals will be replaced by WTO rules, which means all imports will go up in price (more or less everything you buy), while exports will decline (and so foreign income). So short term massive shortfall in Govt revenue forcing increase in taxes and probably interest rates.
Who is the "we" in we will have more control - of What? Grenfell …
BoL
Humbug - maybe I just don't believe proven liars - don't get fooled again.
Troubles, you state that a clean break would have been disastrous. You may or may not be right but the fact is you don't know, nobody can predict the future.
The only "fact" is that we would pay less money to the EU, so, everything else being equal, we would be better off. And we would have more control.
Everything else is subjective.
Hi Dave
Referendums should be banned like in Germany, where it led to Hitler gaining absolute power. We vote to elect politicians to represent us, so they should lead us.
Why not have a referendum on MP's Pay. I say minimum wage - but not even worth that! I am sure that would get 90% approval (not 50.? %).
And what about the 1 1/2 million new voters who never had a say and will be most affected by the decision?
Referendum held 3 1/2 years ago is meaningless now.
Hi Troubles
Beautiful country up there, maybe not as spectacular as the Lakes, but not as touristy, so it has its advantages.
BoL
There's a difference between direct and representative democracy and democracy doesn't stand still, like the results of opinion polls.
There wasn't a real plan for leaving and a clean break, as most politicians realised , would have been disastrous.
Those culpable for the result ran away from their responsibilities and have now returned wanting to maintain the status quo in order to divide and rule.
Thanks Nige - I'm off out for a breath of fresh air.
I think that the damage done to Democracy will be with us for a generation. We have to leave the EU, we have no choice. That's what was voted for. Its irrelevant that it is a good idea or not. This is not about share prices or house prices. I know a lot of people who say they will never vote again. I`m one of them . What will take the placer of democracy?
Hi Nige,
Agree and IMO, all tangible things will be seriously affected (mainly for the worse). Have already looked at houses over the border as just as quick to get to Lake District with new areas to explore and reviewed health insurance cover.
RICS Survey - Current conditions remain downbeat although the outlook appears a little brighter.

Sorry Troubles just got Political again.
But massively important and will seriously affect tw Sp,
Justifiable?
Hi all - have a look at:

Completely agree with DT (Tusk not Trump!), but how is it so many Brexiteers can think their way is best for the UK, when it will destroy it. As I said before, all that will be left of UK is London, the Shires and a few tax havens, if we Brexit. I live in Teesside / Cleveland / Redcar and East Cleveland (not too sure?), but if we had an SNP candidate I would vote for him / her to become part of Scotland (and remain in EU).
I hope some sort of sanity prevails, and this ridiculous state of affairs becomes History soon.
