I was travelling late on a cold and foggy night, when out of the gloom appeared an evil-looking creature, two-headed and green, standing at a crossroads. Struck with fear, I listened to its words. "Choose to go left, stranger, and you will meet with eternal damnation, be roasted in the fires, torn limb from limb and devoured by a thousand rats. Go right and you will become a long-term shareholder in Scotgold Resources". Unfortunately, I chose to go right.
Morning Morar.
A great story that makes mine sound quite dull. For me it was a couple of TV news items over the years. One for Fynegold many years ago and one when Scotgold took over the prospect. I have followed it ever since and in/out invested since ~2014. My two specimens were given by Nyree Hill on a mine visit and bought from Sheila Fleet. Hopefully, like yourself, others here have more interesting stories. The next mine visit will be a great story!
Regards, R.
I was thinking about how long I have held and how I first came across Scotgold. It's time for a confession.
I've held SGZ for nearly 8 years following a conversation when I was working nearby. That chat rekindled an old interest. It wasn't the first time I'd heard about the Tyndrum gold mine. I live only 20 odd miles from the mine and a few years prior to that chat was In the hotel next to my house having a beer with a pal when he mentioned he had read something about a defunct gold mine up by Tyndrum. Inevitably, too many pints later we were setting a date to yomp up there ( he was a warrant officer in the Marines). I was much younger, fitter, into stalking and running up and down hills then so off we went a couple of days later.
We got there, probably in a third of the time it takes me now. The place was desolate, deserted, no signs of activity at all. There were rotten portacabins, Nissen huts, a bit of a mine railway and a waggon or two. There was also the adit with its rusty gate and chain and padlock. Pretty interesting really in an industrial archeology kind of way.
There were also racks and racks of core samples. Hmm worth a look we say.....
Yup, to my eternal shame, we chopped a few shiny bits out of them. Now, somewhere I still have a few souvenirs of that walk. I got some stuff that looked like flecks of silver (Who knows if it is lol) Dave, however got some of the wedding ring metal.
Sorry Scotgold if we did any damage, I doubt it, we did put stuff back in its place even if it was missing a bit. lol.
That's what resparked my interest.
Pity Dave move away, or I could have proved Sh----- wrong re the no visible gold nonsense a while ago.
Anyway, confession over, how did other people find the company?
