Hi AB,
A refreshing post and absolutely it recognises that things can and indeed do change and many of us who have always been very impressed and confident in the science recognised the game changing moment when Redmile came on board.
As you highlight they are the key to monetising the science by progressing the platforms into trials and generating data.
Plus completely agree with your conviction is having a “ proportionately sensible holding” here and I can see you take a detached and balanced view.

When VAL were becoming a good trading play in 2019 there was (In my opinion) no relevance to the underlying science of the company. It was purely a play on SP movement in the knowledge that there was a good base of "believers"
That allowed trades on the long side at below half a penny. Trades could be made purely on sentiment from day to day. there was good money to be made.
Whilst that was going on there was a hard core of Scientific "experts" who spent a great deal of time "Invading" VAL BB and being downright insulting to those who traded there. They were unable to understand that VAL was a play on volatility..... BUT NOT THE SCIENCE! It proved to be a rewading trading stock.
The moral of this story is very much that knowing the market in a particular share is one thing. Being aware of why share prices are moving is another. Neither of those two points are necessarily bound together.
Scancell has a good base of Loyal PIs. BUT it also now has a great finacial base and (posiibly most importantly) a serious institutional backer as well as a smaller, but no less important, more "twitchy" one. The potential for development of the IP certainly makes Scancell look to be a good medium term investment.
If however The BOD fail to demonstrate their ability to utilise the benefits they have then I would agree all bets are off. So far things look encouraging (compared to history).
It will be interesting to see what happens to the more capricious investors who take a view that Scancell is currently not a good investment.
Nine years ago I would have agreed with anyone who said that it isn't all about the science for Scancell. That was proved to be correct. Now however there are at least three worthwhile shots at the science which is augmented by involvement in the hottest vaccine development area possibly ever seen in modern times.
I would find it difficult to see a reason for not having a proportionately sensible holding in Scancell ATM.
It's certainly not emotion on my part... it's logical.
That's all in my opinion.
DYOR.
Ratty.Hope my feelings about comparing the two as investments came through as chalk and cheese.
However, sentiment which is often based on other than fundamentals can be a very powerful driver in driving up an AIM SP.
As always I only ever post what I believe to be my understanding and have long had a policy of encouraging everyone do do their own research and not frequenting other boards to “warn “ off people of the alleged folly of their investments.
Yes I may thank someone for saving me holding on from 70p all the way down but equally I would feel very different if I was persuaded to sell at 5p when it leaked at 60p so again you should ignore everybody abd accept responsibility for your own actions.

Was your 13.13 in reply to me?
Don't forget Ivy, if val had our market cap then their shares would be pushing 3 quid apiece, and they have had two consolidations of 125 to 1 on each occasion. Chalk v cheese.
I have to say from the start that I personally don’t think the science in VAL is good and I have not been in there in 5 years.
However anyone that thinks investing on AIM is all about “ the science” may just consider yes VAL fell from 70p to 20p but also went up from 3.5p( about the lowest here) up to 60p more than double the highest here and all in the space of a few months.
As I said I don’t believe in VAL but that probably is the reason why I did not buy any but if we are here to make money like I guess most of us are that was a big mistake by me and many others here.
My point is if you are here to make money then don’t think the science is always the most important factor.

Yes roses....I did and I did the same with sclp from over 50p to my entry below 13 p...
Same with ITM,CWR in the past...it’s all about making good profits with a successful strategy...and don’t forget the market is an irrational place to be in...and we have to work through its psychology....it’s not all about science but much more...
Hasiba, you need to think of the reasons why it was 70p and now 22p?
Yes, but if all 11 players surround the referee and complain and gesticulate it can sway the referee's decision.
The Argentinians are good at this.
RR..yes all shares are high risk investments...how much in one rather than another is where the balance of risk taking lies...
Val imv has great products, great team, great potentials and a deal on the horizon ,with already existing collaboration and involvement of un named Japanese pharma...share price highlights recently 70p and currently ranging 19-25 p....so not a bad entry just below 20p...
No money is a risk but potentials are big too.....
Argentinian strategy as per crumbs...I like that
Also they have no funds to do anything with, let alone run a P1 trial even if they had something to run one on, and no sign of any institutional investors whatsoever. Still, everyone has their own motives for buying in or selling out.
Much riskier than SCLP I would have thought though, hasiba.
No money and even less clinical data than Scancell.
They also do not appear to have the scientists to improve their products/ invent new products.

"" I think his home truths about VAL's products were a bit too much for the VAL faithful to stomach.""
I hope you are not suggesting that a poster was banned from LSE because a group of other posters ganged up against him?
Surely it is Admin who have the ultimate sanction irrespective of what other posters think?
Maybe not. Appreciate your candid comment there.
AIMO
RP...fyi..I bought quite few of val last week ..lots of potentials there too at bargain sp...imv
Keep an eye on it...but not a recommend advice...dyor as always
Thanks Ray. I missed that. Surely he should be sent to sin bin rather than a life sentence.
Inanaco was banned here for upsetting people on the VAL board. I think his home truths about VAL's products were a bit too much for the VAL faithful to stomach.
Why isn’t Inanaco post here or Hasiba replies on ADVFN? Bunsie...?
Hi Bunsie....
Ok..science is everything and GSK has a lot of it but shareholders are desperate now as the SP has been bashed and currently at its lowest wave for almost a decade....please go to their blogs and tell them about the science!
From Inan
Its the Data that comes out of Scancell ..... that is important
debating if its weeks or months is pointless ...
Until all the hurdles are passed ie. toxicology, stability etc Time Scales can only be a predication .. its impossible to punish Scancell if that slips .. we are not an assembly line, cutting edge science coupled with "new Process" for instance adding Amplivant to Moditope and switching to Hydrophobic proteins creates technical issues that have to be overcome .....But the Trial is the Expensive bit ... its the Trial that generates the biggest value and its the Trial in Humans that has to be safe. If Scancell goes alone into trial its because it understands the Risk, after all Scancell is developing its own invention ... if Big Pharma was so good at it why don't they "invent"
How Tuff Ruck and Hasiba have that "knowledge" is beyond me . nothing in there posting history points to them being experts in the science or even a basic understanding to be able to articulate the science and even having any nous in the commercial sphere to Act as an equal to CH .... and if they had why are they not running a PLC instead of posting as anonymous keyboard warriors
yet again "Common Sense" rarely gets posted
Bermuda Has this one spot on .... so has my backing
Big Pharma wants to buy the Science not the Personalities .......
everything revolves around the science
its as simple as that ..........
If it gets funded ... somebody thinks its commercial and CH has done his Job ...
