Haha unfortunately they are rather tight lipped, although I'm certain as you are discussions are had on trades in certain circles.
They do support me from a fundamental aspect and check some risk plays for me which is helpful.
One thing they often state is day trading as a retail investor is dead as all big trades are not 'live' let's say but pre agreed which i found very interesting. And that they execute trades to 0.00001 second whereas retail it take 20-30 and even then we only receive 'retail price' as per brokers discretion.
It's actually a fascinating game. Mighty scewed.
And good luck with your trading!
Well I have to say you've pretty much got it covered. I can't help you with your question re retail flows in the US unfortunately I've actually no idea. I was involved in bigger markets, Asia and Emerging Europe. The fundamentals of trading remain the same in any stock though. Liquidity/volatility should obviously help determine your position size. AIM traders meeting in the bar and discussing positions? Rightly or wrongly for sure that happens. Unfortunately and usually the retail punters are the last to know/hear things. Obviously there have been some notable exceptions on Reddit in recent times!
Some phrases that have remained true throughout....
"The trend is your friend" and "Only monkey pick bottoms".
I've always been a flow and momentum trader. Much more difficult these days.
Maybe you shouldbe wining and dining your Nomura buddies!!!
That's pretty cool, I've got a few friends at Nomura, as per your post the house is leveraged greatly in favour of the institutions. And does make me laugh that majority of AIM market makers seem to be drinking buddies (so I'm told).
I only enter positional trades myself, day trading I find far too much of an art form, and supremely stressful.
Am I correct in thinking flow data is visible to retail traders in the US? I use a lot of call/put data & darkpool outputs to support my trading there (majority of my portfolio is US ).
Any suggestions on tools or resources to leverage to support trading success I'd love to hear! Thanks.
Emotions certainly disrupts progress in this game.
Thank you! I ran trading desks for a long time and a lot of my time was spent trying to remove the passion from individual trades. Not easy. But it's really important to try. Stocks trade on both fundamentals and technicals. I might add that yes I do trade a bit from home but without the comforting blanket of the flow and information you get from working at a bulge-bracket house...... it's really difficult!
Cracking post. Very measured.
Many won't like reading it, but it's spot on.
I look at this share because a friend got puffed in a lot higher. I'm glad I didn't. That aside I look at this Share Chat and it reminds me of kids squabbling in the playground. Here are my thoughts and I welcome your feedback....!!!
1. The share price generally doesn't lie. It is what it is given the information available to the public. None of you know more than anybody else. Why? Because you post it all.
2. The stock has a recent daily average of 20m shares and a longer-term daily average of 40m shs. At 0.85p/share that equates to between £170,000 - £340,000 total turnover in a day!! Miniscule
3. This is currently not on the list of any market-makers or institutions. Quite frankly why would it be?
4. The 5-15% spread in the stock tells you all you need to know. No real liquidity. Market-makers do not want any large position in this type of stock. Positions they are allowed to take are based on delta, volatility and liquidity
5. The notion that there are people paid to influence this share price is preposterous
There are very passionate bull/bears in this stock as there are in most. But buyer beware. It's a penny-stock. It has almost no liquidity. It has disappointed on lots of levels in the recent past. Any perceived good/bad news will have a dramatic effect either way on the share price.
Stocks like this are just a punt. Some you win......This stock should only form a very small proportion of any portfolio. Red/black.
Good luck
