>> Steve. Think you're a bit confused between your millions, billions and trillions! More like 0.77%, I think. ATB
267m was a typo - should have been 267b. US interest payments in 2019 for example were 600 billion. Everything else in my post is correct.

>> To me us inflation is likely to cause the fed to increase interest rates
The problem for the fed is the size of the US debt, which limits their ability to increase interest rates. Current debt is 26.7 trillion dollars while Federal income in 2019 was 3.46 trillion.
The above means that every 1% in interest rates costs 267m per annum to service the debt, which is 7.7% of income. So if interest rates reached 5% for example, then the US would be spending almost 40% of its income on debt interest.
That is completely unsustainable, so the Fed has to keep interest rates low. In fact, the best way to reduce the debt burden as a proportion of income is to allow a period of high inflation.
Let’s get it
What does US inflation mean for Rambler?
To me us inflation is likely to cause the fed to increase interest rates, which will see the value of the US dollar rise against the Canadian, raising the value of metals around the world.
Ordinarily this would dampen demand, however these aren't ordinary times, the demand for copper globally has a massive driver in the energy transition from fossil fuels to electricity and mine production is below demand.
Further there is going to be massive global stimulus, which us going to be a further demand for copper, all of this means an increasing copper price and an increasing dollar, meaning a double whammy for Rambler with tge canadian dollars recieved likely to increase massively.
An interesting one us looking at the company page on goodyears cove is it is effectively a bonded warehouse. Our offtaker, Transamine actually pay 90% of the value of the ore on delivery to the warehouse, so the company is actually receiving the best part of $1 million (us) every week
asta le vista props.
anyway,US CPI DATA due out at 1.30
so could send the metal prices, either way, depending on the dreaded, dollar
Looks likectgey may have sunk a couple of sellers!
