cream rising to the top.
More a dollop
JB Times like this when we see the cream rising to the top. As usual the otherwise silent majority.
Redceo I agree. It is an incredibly tough time for all and some amazing examples of people doing their bit and I have great admiration for those doing everything to get us all through this.
JB. It's very easy to sit in a comfortable chair and second guess. Personally I believe they are doing what they think correct. History will judge them but things are always easier with hindsight.
Redceo you may well be right but it's made all the more difficult with people not getting all the information. I have no doubt people at all levels are doing their best to do the right thing.
On reflection perhaps allowing the individual to decide for themselves is the fairest way. Some are very concerned others not so and may well object to being forced to stop doing what they consider is worthwhile. Again we have volunteers willingly returning to NHS etc.
I also feel the government could have made better decisions. However I also know they are trying to make good decisions in an incredibly difficult situation.
JB. People view this differently. Countless are volunteering to assist in various ways. Then we have those that feel their job would put themselves at an unacceptable risk.
It's not for others to judge. Maybe calmer heads will view the pros and cons later. At the moment fear is not something that can easily be overcome.
Redceo thanks for the article as you say all could be doing more and quicker. Oligarch thanks for the update from the sharp end. Any sight of the Rico Back response email? Not sure what will happen next, more go off sick and more agency in. I have read a couple of offices walked out this morning I expected a lot more. Leaving down to individuals to make their own H&S decisions is just passing the buck IMO and putting people under more pressure at incredibly difficult time.
Just in case anyone is interested.
In my office so far this week;
DSA letter volumes have fallen by around 50%.
Letter box collection mail has remained stable.
Parcels and packets have gone through the roof.
Sick absence has risen from 5% (normal) to 20% across all three shifts so we are taking on Angard staff to fill the shortfall on the late and night shift.
