This could be playing the system but there is merit in this for all parties:
I thought I had covid back in March/April: 2 weeks of feeling under the weather, a very mild headache, felt like I'd had the carp kicked out of me, some loss of taste and smell, but no temperature, no cough. At the time, NHS (via 111 hotline) assessment was 'you don't have covid'.
Fast forward a 4 months I received an e-mail from NHS Blood UK (https://www.blood.co.uk/) seeking those who had had covid to donate convalescent plasma (containing their antibodies) for treatment of patients. I received this e-mail on a global distribution as I'm a blood donor. I filled in the application form stating whilst I genuinely believed I'd had covid, I couldn't prove it because I was never tested but was prepared to donate plasma if it was of the suitable standard. About a week later I went to hospital to provide a blood sample for testing, a week later I found out my antibody levels were high enough for use in treatment of patients, and another week later I donated a pint of plasma. Ideally they want me (and others) to donate every couple of weeks.
So, this may be an opportunity to get a test and become a plasma donor to treat those who are struck down with covid. Win/win I say.
Safy, I'm ok now thanks - still mega tired. I'm back in GDR. Got bored during their "siesta" but rejoined the party a few weeks back. Like here, there and everywhere (everywhere that I am invested, of course), we await the orders. My BP is getting spiked even if nothing else is. Then you're too busy looking at what you are already in, and miss the likes of FAB.
Hey Hype
No wonder ive not seen you on GDR
Hope you're well pal
No, didn't have test at the time. GP wanted to know if I needed to go to hospital, but I was OK to walk upstairs 3 times and still talk, so no. Just told me I had all the symptoms and to stay at home and call for ambulance if it got worse. Which it didn't.
"I applied for an antibody test, received a response today..
NHS COVID-19 Notification: Unfortunately you are not currently eligible for an at-home antibody test. Go to GOV.UK and search 'antibody testing' for full eligibility information."
"Just had the same text :("
"Ditto. I had Covid-19 (all the symptoms, 2 weeks more ill than I've ever been, 3 weeks totally exhausted, 5 weeks sick in total) in March/April, so applied. Received text this morning saying I'm not eligible. Doh."
Did you have a positive Covid test at the time? The reason I ask is that I've heard that they're restricting the wider antibody testing to those people who have had Covid confirmed by a molecular test. Not sure whether that's correct but it wouldn't surprise me.
Ditto hyper just got mine different dates etc but big fat no come Odx I’m quite happy to buy but want one I have an interest in !
