You say leave it out and then rant on like a true liberal.
Leave it out was the only sense you said.
Leave it out- this is Hurricane energy, not black lives matter.

Tardigrade, hope so, drink to that!
Tardigrade, I have good cause to laugh at myself on a daily basis!

Fortunately for him most Canadians appear fairly forgiving and understanding that this was the oblivious act of a young man in his 20s. The more pressing question is in whose interest was it to publish those photos and discredit him?
Tardigrade,
Everyone laughed at a lot of things in the 70s that fortunately they don't laugh at now. My parents were fairly ahead of their time but still did and said things that made me cringe when I look back and they were good people too.
But why were they laughing?.....
who is the man singing ? is it the canadian prime minister !

Some people loved 'Benny Hill', I can remember watching it and cringing as a young woman. Won't be clicking on any more links thanks.
Strange and fortunate!
When I was a nipper out milkman was called Benny Hill (seriously), but not Ernie. Strange that.
I has the displeasure of a dinner where Frankie was the after dinner comedian. Awful. Don’t get me wrong, he has his moments, but far too few for my liking and far too distasteful for me.
Iamluvingit,
As a fan of Mock the Week and most comedy, however blunt or gross, know of Frankie Boyle but not his material per se - I'm not a fan of PC gone made but at the same time anything that incites hatred or prejudice or causes hatred or prejudice to continue is not OK with me. I believe he's mostly a political and social commentator but I may be wrong ... so I'm not a fan of Bernard Manning if that gives you a scale.
I never got Benny Hill.
Actually Tardigrade, it's not funny and if your wife is black as you say, on this anonymous unaccountable bulletin board forum, then let me educate you. Blackface is not funny. It is unacceptable. As is anything which demeans or undermines the wellbeing and self esteem of others - in this case women. Benny Hill was not funny it was exploitative, tasteless and regrettable, oh, and cringeworthy.

And if I have to spell it out
" Accept there are instances where folk push it beyond that but sometimes it just seems a bit much."
Meaning in the spirit of my reply to Tardigrade who said his wife is black, sometimes it does seem like important messages get lost in the midst of PC outrage - and to spell it out further - racism, prejudice and in fact behaviour of any kind that sets out to deliberately offend or demean another is simply unacceptable and should be challenged.
JayKay,
Yes. In reference to insensitivity and oblivousness:
"TV pre-2000 had much that was truly cringeworthy and is now impossible to watch."
This is not the forum. Can we leave it there please?
JayKay - not a discussion for here. There is no moral equivalence that was the point of my first post.

I'm audibly sighing as I write. Yes, Blackface is offensive, however, if you are aware of the various minutes, hours and days that people spend their lives on Twitter protesting outrage that so and so is culturally appropriating my plait, kimono etc. you would better appreciate my post. It happens, every day and it's getting silly.
Tardingrade, great charity. Just not sure where the link was to President Trudeau old photo, or the colour of peoples skin on here. - but each to their own.
Tardigrade
Should add, TV pre-2000 had much that was truly cringeworthy and is now impossible to watch. But I love braids and think they're beautiful - if I had them is that cultural appropriation? Women who straighten their hair ... is that cultural appropriation? Too complicated for me.
