Yes, you and Fastjetcrazy are right. I am afraid this attitude is reflective of a wider move under the current TZ government to favour disproportionately local interests
https://atcnews.org/2018/05/31/tanzanian-aviation-authorities-tell-fastjet-that-kigoma-is-a-no-go-zone-for-them/ - We have no chance of a presence in Dodoma while TCAA are ordered to protect Air Tanzania,
Sources close to the Tanzanian aviation regulators, clearly in disagreement with their organizations modus operandi, have revealed an alarming trend taking root when it comes to dealing with privately owned airlines. We are given to understand that we must protect Air Tanzania at all cost because government is investing huge money after buying several new aircraft. Initially everyone seemed ok with Fastjet flying to Kigoma but this has completely changed now. They are now even being targeted over their plans to bring a turboprop aircraft into the country and our seniors have schemed up a way to have them drop their description as a low cost airline. This is all happening as a result of orders from above all of which have only one objective which is to give Air Tanzania a big advantage in every area of operation. But it is not right which is why we are telling you said a Dar es Salaam based source using intermediaries to pass on the message for fear of being found out and punished.
Rufiji, given what has happened with Kigoma there is no hope for Dodoma, or elsewhere in Tanzania IMHO, existing destinations, and perhaps ZNZ as this was previously okay, and nothing else. I also don't see the ATR being approved either. https://atcnews.org/2018/05/31/tanzanian-aviation-authorities-tell-fastjet-that-kigoma-is-a-no-go-zone-for-them/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
WHat is the state of play with our presence in Dodoma? Magafuli has made the decision that Domoma will be unquestionalby the political centre of Tanzania and so far 16 ministires, the Prime Ministers office and various regulatory bodies have been moveed out of Dar to Dodoma. The President's Office will follow early next year while around 60 foreign embassies will follow. As a result Dodoma is subject to a massive redevelopment effort and supporting plan which is likely to grow the city three-fold. Dodoma airport has been upgraded and can operate 24 hours a day but can only handle aircraft in the 70-90 pax range; moreover, it is slap bang in the middle of a major redevelopment area and plans are for a new airport to be built 10 km north of the city to full international standards. A new high speed ( for Africa = 160 km/hour) is currenty being built from Dar with modern carriage stock and engines envisaged and this will take 3 hours/4 hours so competitive with air travel given the congestion making the trip from DAR airport to the CBD and The Peninsular a major logistic effort. Notwithstanding given the likely high volumes of pax needing to travel between DAR and Dodoma, anf the limitation on aircraft size, flight load sshould be consistently high so worth having a reasonable presence
buxton1 Kigoma is still on the dropdown destination list as long as you have Dar in the departure Airport, but has indeed been removed from selling tickets after 1 day or thereabouts on sale. Hopefully this is just a temporary start date delay.
I think considering we have three new airplanes on the sidelines an update from head office is required before the AGM
Kigoma has been removed as a destination from the Fastjet website So much for African open sky! Impossible for Fastjet to expand it's routes in Tanzania they have to focus on other African countries for expansion The problem being that they expanded the fleet believing they would have fair access to other Tanzania destinations in June
KIGOMA TO BECOME FASTJETS FIFTH DOMESTIC ROUTE IN #TANZANIA (Posted 28th May 2018) Fastjet has opened bookings, again, for Kigoma https://atcnews.org/2018/05/28/fastjet-on-course-for-kigoma-flights/
Its two and overall no where near normal, far from it, Im going to take a long break from posting as feel I really do need to put these shares in the bottom draw in the hope that one day...... I will check in from time to time to check on all of the posts
This would be the game changer that fastjet needs. Seems to slowly but surely getting closer to reality. I see that the Tanzanian government is one of three countries dragging their heels on this to protect their state owned airlines. http://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/business/Togo-meeting-to-review-hurdles-to-attaining-Africa-open-skies/2560-4573328-m9jltp/index.html Has anyone heard how the meeting went last Friday in Togo? Had a quick search online but didn’t come up with anything.
We have 3 flights today to MZA so nearly normal on our main route We certainly have to look outside Tanzania for expansion while the present Government continues its protectionist policy
Same again tomorrow folks , that will be three days of single aircraft operations, five flights operating tomorrow, even with this massive reduction, flow flights wide open
ATCL indeed is but this is the status quo, when Fjet started in TZ ,ATCL was a dead duck, now its new government is reviving it with unlimited funds so Fjet will be held back at every possible opportunity from any expansion, we will have quite a thrashing when the DAR Harare route starts its three times weekly.
Air Tanzania is being financed by the Government ,it's their vanity project and Fastjet are the opposition.Really good old fashion socialism from a distant past they are displaying. The money spent on new planes should have gone on education etc

TIA. Sad, but true. Still no results for 2017 - delay can only lead me to believe that Nico has not delivered on his cost cutting goals. Yes, can see a cash call coming up. However, still hopefull of a takeover.
Its exhausting Buxton, as Wolfgang stated in part of his summary, TCAA, seems they are at it again, i am now of the opinion Fjet simply put is not wanted , painful to watch ATCL making great strides forward as Fjet are forced to watch from the sidelines.
It seems the sale of tickets Dar to Kigoma have again been removed for sale.
One aircraft operation again tomorrow 2xMWA 2x JRO 1x MBI SHES unsurprisingly late on the HRE having worked flat out for two days
https://twitter.com/alexinair/status/1001119859172954114?s=21 Zimbabwe Open skies continue to attract airlines. @AirTanzania #ATCL has scheduled 1JUL18 for thrice weekly flights from Dar es Salaam to Harare using a #CS300 on Wed,Frid and Sun. Option to link Zanzibar and Victoria Falls. Well done @caaz_online 👏🏻🛬
5HFJH has been working FLAT OUT hopefully FJI will join her tomorrow

I would guess that you are probably right in another cash call is on its way, interestingly SAA are trying to recall their cash out of Zimbabwe, a much bigger sum than ours.
Fastjet has opened bookings, again, for Kigoma which is now set to become the airlines fifth destination after Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza and Mbeya. Shown as a destination several months ago already and then taken off again reportedly due to civil aviation shenanigans will the new destination connect yet another underserved part of Tanzania with affordable airfares, the secret of Fastjets success in the sprawling East African country. It is expected that the new destination will be served with an ATR72-600 of which the airline has purchased three, the remaining two to be placed with other Fastjet companies in Africa. This aircraft type is already type approved in Tanzania so adding an ATR on the airlines AOC should not give Fastjet unsurmountable challenges unless TCAA plays games again as has clearly been the case in January.
