Jm4tw - Cineplex share holders may thank CINE for pulling out. They will get a higher price from a studio or Amazon than CINE will have paid them. In fact, CINE may end up regretting pulling the plug!!
Don't worry about results. We all know will be poor and I think that's already been priced in over recent weeks. What will likely happen is a determination on "how bad" they are. In this respect I think we can be positive based on AMCs little interview last week. If the results are better than anticipated, it will lead to a rise.
I think we can be positive in that respect. The only thing I can see happening is figures looking a little worse because of all the investment in refurbs.
But overall, I'd say between now and September we will generally see an upwards movement.
Unless of course we genuinely do see a second wave which up to now we haven't seen any sign of (although the media have spouted the phrase off a few times to get stories read).
Gone are the dates where covid is headlines every day now.
There will be down days but upwards trend now. There's light at the end of the tunnel.
Now we know you are lying / joking. This share is far too low for shorters to even bother.
Short potential - 50p per share
Short risk - -150p+ per share.
(Basic explanation).
You would be insane to increase a short at the moment. The only way forward, is up.
Disney and Cineworld look to be a natural fit.... £2 bid this week ?
Another bull attack and the already sweating shorters will find it too much and close...will see another big rise this week imo.
@shorterguy
Yeah, hence why I said I hope I'm on the right side of things.
Could be bad, could be good. A week ago I would say bad, but now I'm tipping towards a good sign:)
Up up and away.
The left field company whom may buy a cinema chain is Walmart. They bought 160 drive ins. And may look at diversifying into a cinema chain. They have the money and clout to compete.
@shorterguy
Maybe, but that is the biggest buy or sell I've seen before closing for a long time.
Something big is going down, and I hope that I'm on the right side of it .
I disagree, I think Mooky would like the idea. He's business minded, he knows the implications of not going down that route and other doing so. He's a businessman and is very forward thinking I find.
Even if you're right, he could be outvoted. He isn't a controlling shareholder.
What surprises me is this share price is still only 51p at that news!!! The Cineplex deal doesn't bother me as they will likely sell to a studio too lol.
They won't even get to court. There will be a new agreement, either out of court settlement or a renegotiated offer if needs be. It's not something that's going to cost a lot. Let the legals handle that.
I'm holding most definitely. I've had two limit sells on this but it's literally a gold mine. I'm astonished it's still only 51p with everything going on.
Opening, decree dissolution, US covid figures, vaccine news.
Astonished.
Diisney would make even more of a killing on their merchandise. As somebody posted before, imagine the kids pestering their parents for the newest toys after just seeing a movie. Walk out of the screen, boom, disney shop sitting right in front of you lol.
Plus free advertising at every showing for whatever they want.
Netflix already dabbled in buying theaters, with a cinema chain behind them, not only will they rake in monthly subscription profits, but massive lump sums at every cinema release. They produce so much of their own content at the minute, that a cinema showing before netflix release would be tasty for them. All added profits.
Amazon, well why the hell not, they do everything anyway lol. Imagine going to the cinema to watch football games live, it would get messy haha, but a good stream of income to throw in on top of their movie releases.
It also puts any studio in a much better position than the others. They can release their own concent, whilst making a killing on other studios content too.
I think a very interesting race is about to ensue.
Just back from work.
Ya know, proper work where you're not paid scratchings to chat **** in a share you're not invested in.
Seems like day traders have sold out yesterday's gains versus serious investors setting in for the long haul have cancelled each other out.
Seems like this will be a level for a while to build on.
Cold beer time here in sunny Sheffield.
Have a great evening, INVESTORS.
Luv and kisses,
Crumpets.
Not a chance of a studio buying Cineworld for a whole manner of reasons. Mostly Mooky being a stubborn bugger that simply won't sell.
It comes down to who would you.prefer to buy it?
Me?
Disney? Disney world owns Cineworld. Expansions to all it's parks
Marketing wise it fits, ambition wise it fits, historic company with roots just like Mooky in cinema in a way.
It also fits perfectly and more fully with their leisure portfolio films, cinemas, theme parks etc.
I can see Disney and Cineworld having a long lived and brilliant relationship.
Amazon and Netflix would be a huge experiment and Amazon are a jack of all trades company. Netflix would very much be new to it.
Mooky might prefer a more traditional route.
It would make sense a studio buying a cinema chain, Netflix or Disney, simply because they can prioritise their productions on the own cinemas then only show the movies on the streaming service... Plus you could then put TV productions on the cinema and double the income.
Star Wars only on cine world cinemas... Then pay £10 an episode to watch the mandalorian on a massive screen.
Double bubble winner winner chicken dinner
I do love our convos shorterguy . If ever your near Leeds hit me up.
So a noob PI just has over 700k to throw away? Interesting.
Thanks for sharing Jm4tw - interesting and very plausible. I think the 'bundles' that Netflix and Amazon can offer along with membership will make this a value proposition for them. Plus they can sell other stuff in the galleries etc - I'm thinking film mechanise etc. The law has changed recently and I would be very surprised if there wasn't quite a lot of competition to buy cinema chains - studios will not want to be negotiating with big business like Amazon - so may just buy the cinemas themselves. It is going to be an interesting period and we have just started on this process. I'm holding on to my shares for sure!
No it doesn't. It means many "noob PI's " as you put it, sold to one big buyer who knows what he / she is doing. Far much more than me or you.
Cine being bought out for anything less than £2 a share would be criminal. The historic price of the share ranges realistically from £2-£3 so £2 would be quite cheap when you consider the business advantages.
It may not be an industry wide positive too if just one company was bought by Amazon or Netflix because I think you'd have your traditional studios band together to pigeonhole those companies into their own showings. Dilute the customer base in a way.
Ultimately, it could lead to inter-company agreements on movie showings but this may damage the exclusivity and pull of the streaming services.
A lot to weigh up but overall you have to say, this decree was ripped up for a reason. It was put to task late last year for a reason wasn't just a whimsical idea someone had. This has been someone behind the scenes pulling strings to get this to happen.
There's substance to it most definitely and there's only AMC and CINE worth buying really at the top end and I'd personally go for cine with all it comes with. It's far more ambitious and innovative.
There will be studio involvement in cinemas and you'd have to say with the amount of competition it would be very very likely a large studio will have involvement with Cineworld in the very near future.
I expect Disney and Warner Bros to compete. They also have the finances to buy a chain.
repetition not religion lol
Sorry if this has been posted, I cant be bothered streaming through all the religion.
Did any1 notice the 1.3million share buy near the end???

Another good article on the Amazon and Netflix debate with a bit of background.
With Cine and AMCs Market Cap, it would be pennies to these two giants.
Now that is interesting! thanks for posting
