Nice to know LPD
Thanks for keeping me/us updated
Have a good evening
just looking, Everyman Cinema (EMAN) also went up roughly 9% today fyi
Lastly on the barometer cinema that I follow I have just seen another screening sell out and there are several further that are very close. It could well be the case that they are sold out of tickets for the opening weekend on pre-sale tickets alone from Thursday through to Sunday inclusive. Next week is also looking very strong.
Dyor and have a good evening.
Ozo7 I'm guessing what comes with big rises are slight pullbacks or a drop , maybe they are gambling on that for a small short on cineworld, if I was looking at cineworld with little research as a brand new investor I personally wouldn't touch it after a 11% rise.
That doesn't mean it won't rise again tomorrow , cineworld has done it many times with its famous "bounce" and this is no ordinary time with bond around the corner, but maybe just maybe some feel it might drop a few pence in the next day or 2
Very risky play I might add
I was mystified myself as Venom is one I am looking to go and see. Commiserations on testing positive and missing Bond this Saturday. I think its 7 days self isolation and then a negative test sets you free into next weeks cumulative audience. GWS.
You saved me a bit of work in looking for the thread.
The reason for the rise today is manyfold:
James Bond Pre-sale tickets

and
Similar story on pre-sales but indications also of the public returning and back to pre-pandemic levels. (CINE share price isn't anywhere near pre-pandemic levels)

First increased holdings RNS for some time this afternoon.

Then you can add this after hours.
NB - if you go back and read the earlier Mail article you will see that Odeon have added another 75,000 pre-sale tickets since Saturday publication.

Sept 27 (Reuters) - Advance ticket sales for the latest
James Bond movie at UK-based cinema chains Odeon and Cineworld
were at levels last seen in 2019, setting it up to be
the biggest opening since the pandemic gripped the industry.
Odeon said on Monday it has sold more than 175,000 tickets
for "No Time to Die", the latest instalment in the spy series
set to hit the big screen this week. Cineworld said it marked
its highest pre-selling film since Marvel's superhero movie
"Avengers: Endgame" in 2019.

Watch for the opening numbers and research what films are coming in Q4.
Numbers getting back to pre-Covid levels leaves the share prices woefully Oversold imho.
Why is it going up are shorts closing or did court case go well in the states Friday?
I was in at around 68. I don't be long term here as I believe streaming will take bigger bite in long game. I'd be happy to hold through any covid recovery while they get audiences back up.
