More good news. The Office for National Statistics says there were 3,810 deaths involving coronavirus in England and Wales during the week ending 15 May - the lowest weekly number recorded in the last six weeks.
Could have traded this twice today
Great share JBS
I think you’re right, but think there is further legs in it before the retrace, especially with the US markets set to fire. Preferring to set a high cheeky sell for open tomorrow with necessary safeguards.
Good luck all.
Hate to say it but it's rising again. Expecting much further rises during the week and then the big one when there is a whiff of opening dates and forward plans.
Fair enough Sam. I was tempted to sell half and buy back in at 68. Too busy to follow today though.
I know what you are saying investroid. It’s a gamble to be out sometimes, especially with these big rises. We all know this can fly in a heartbeat. Let’s see where this goes this week.
Great to see the car dealerships up 15% today on opening news. A nice heads up for us once we get the nod/wink
true about airlines, but airlines seem to get bailouts easily! just trying to play safe ;)
I would not try and trade this as I don't envisage any large retraces happening here.
The momentum is clearly on the upside. Markets are rallying everywhere. Airline stocks which I consider far higher risk have been increasing for over a week now with no retrace. IAG is up almost 40% from lows, with slow accumulations over the last 2 weeks since mid May. Easyjet too almost 40% in the last 2 weeks. Both are up double digits today.
With Cineworld still 70% off the value it was in Jan, this horse has just left the stables.
Anything mid 60s will be awesome, just want to see if it's holding up at 70s for a couple of days though. It was too good today, had to cash in. Might regret tomorrow ;)
What do you want to get in at Sam, mid 60s? Anyone?
Looking great here now. Dow up 500 points too. Could see another surge maybe?.
same here - sold at 70, but waiting for retrace. @jaibabaswami - not yet.
2 weeks is the incubation period for this virus. If we track the timeline and potential chances of second wave are from VE Day celebrations (08-May) and lock down relaxations (10-May). We could see an indication in this week's numbers from the briefing. This is just UK though, but US might be completely different.
Did you buy back in at 68 after the sells Gents?
I agree, but the only hesitation I have is around the second wave. It should be a nice trading share for the next 2-3 weeks, and then stabilise either way.
Overreaction at it's finest.
Look everything was doom and gloom over the last 2 months with no idea where would be headed. The studio made a choice to release some content via streaming whilst it looked like cinemas would be closed for the foreseeable future. Clearly it now looks like that isn't going to be the case.
Knee-jerk reaction from both sides which I think is swiftly going to get resolved. It's in both their interests too draw a line under it. Cinemas need studios and studios need Cinemas for huge box office numbers. Such a non-issue.
Don't panic about the Universal/Cineworld situation. It's mainly an AMC issue, they're the ones that have said they're not playing Universal at all. Cineworld have just reiterated their stance of not playing movies that don't stick to the window, it's always been that way, hence no Roma, Irishman etc in Cineworld. Either way, a lot of it is posturing to get better terms for future movies.
If you look at the charts this is now in a clear uptrend - as I said before the share price will continue to rise as we get closer and closer to reopening. I admit I'm not at all happy regards the spat with Universal and I do see it as a big deal. Universal is not some piddly film studio. There's no question customers are itching to return to the cinema but I can't imagine cinema without Universal Studios - both sides need to sort it out and fast imo because ultimately its the customer experience that will suffer if they can't watch Universal's movies at the cinema. Anyway fingers crossed they'll reach some sort of agreement soon.
