That's a fair enough article jenks and it may end up being the case, none of us can predict the future but I will say that it's based on one analysts opinion and in no way constitutes fact. I'm sure the studios are happy to delay in the hope of larger profits but distributors are putting pressure on them to release internationally.
This story doing the rounds today (posting purely for reference) - https://variety.com/2020/film/news/tenet-box-office-coronavirus-mulan-1234704739/
This is a comprehensive list of all current films slated for 2020, those highlighted in pink are for wide release and is where you will find some of the up coming blockbusters.
August: Tenet and Mulan,
September: A Quiet Place 2, The Kings Man's and a Conjuring sequel,
October: Wonderwoman 1984,
November: James Bond, Black Widow, Soul etc
These are just some of the films that stood out to me, it seems like there are a bunch of other releases I haven't heard of and yet might take us by surprise. People wanting to get out of the house and enjoy something other than the same old Netflix films might seek out unknown films to try something new.

Nice article thank you. An important line: "And given the current rise in cases, there’s no guarantee those new dates will stick". As a result of the present uncertainty, this share is remaining in its trading range, bouncing off 52-53p 3x in 3 days and many more times failing to break this support level.
Will bottom support or upwards resistance be broken first?
Risk Register next few weeks (IMO off the top of my head):
Negative SP Impacts:
Delay in opening
Delay in Tenet
Further state lockdowns
Earnings Report Release
Cinema attendance
No SP Impact:
Cinemas open in US
Positive SP Impacts:
US Covid Control + positive sentiment in news
Tenet Income
Cinema attendance
Releases b/fwd
I do wonder even if we see a rise and all goes well with Tenet, theres an entire quarter of zero blockbusters I believe, at least a few months.
What for the SP then!
That would be some welcome news, when I look at the country as a whole it just looks depressing. Despite that though it still hasn't shaken my confidence in a Cineworld sp rise. It's just a matter of time.
Interesting article Moola, prob still a bit early to tell but cases in California might be reaching a plateau https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/california/
This article sums up the situation well, pressure is being put on the studio's to not delay film releases any further so Cinema's can open on time. The scary language in the article is clearly there to heap pressure and emphasise the importance to the studio's
'The “vast majority” of global markets will be open in time for the current release dates for Hollywood movies, he said. Other countries, he noted, have been more effective than the U.S. in controlling the virus, and for a movie like “Tenet,” two-thirds of the box office is expected to be international.
Furthermore, if studios don’t start releasing new movies soon, it could do lasting damage to the industry, he said.
“If the answer is, ‘We’re going to wait until 100% of theaters are open, we’re not going to be there until a year from now when there’s a vaccine,” Fithian said. “This is existential for the movie theater industry. If we go a year without new movies, it’s over.”'
What we really need right now is for those states like Maryland, New York, North Carolina, New Mexico and New Jersey etc to provide some clarity on when Cinemas can safely reopen. Then I can see new releases being allowed out despite not all states being open for business due to the spikes in Covid-19.
