Thanks nacho......ODX were in the consortium I think, but they haven't had the grief off GLP. Anyroadup, if good news comes on new orders then the GLP will be a sideshow imo.
Awax I'm not entirely sure but abdx were part of a group who jointly developed a lft - they shipped an initial order to dhsc before contract was cancelled. I assume 85m covered the full contract, had it not been cancelled. As is, I've seen no info stating dhsc paid out or owe 85m to anyone. Though I'm not fully versed on all facts.
Who was party to the £85m contract? I thought ABDX were only £7m ish outstanding?
Trying to find out why we're up 30% (good problem to have) and came across link below. Free tests for everyone during winter is my take.
Thoughts anyone?

He said SureScreen tests, which have been partly assembled by Omega Diagnostics in Alva in Scotland, will form an essential part of the government’s rapid testing programme which has made free LFDs available to everyone in the UK.
“The government confirmed the extension of free testing as part of the Winter Plan outlined by the Prime Minister last week
Great post, thanks.
What I don't understand is why the GLP is so keen on the "£85m" contract when Innova is so much bigger & seems so scandalous. How did Sir John Bell & the Porton Down collaboration to approve LFTs put forward Innova so strongly as their leader when the FDA has found Innova devices so unacceptable and unsupported by the false statistics of accuracy the submitted in support of accreditation in the US? Are we going to find a huge donations for research at Oxford University, Tory Party or others made mysteriously in the future, do you think? Why aren't GLP interested in the billions first & long established specialists in the UK crippled by DHSC procurement second?
Bethells wife, a prominent business woman (Tesco, Diageo boards) is Chinese. Her father lives 10 mins from boss of Innova in California.
Just saying!
"turned out that the tests didn't even work" - what hogwash from the GLP.
It has been repeatedly proven that ABC19 works, yet the GLP prefers to rely on isolated reports to the contrary (and in particular a BMJ report last year) to bolster its underlying cause to expose dirt and cronyism within govt. None of this exposure serves to help ABDX in my view, which is being dragged through the mud after fulfilling contracts, to the detriment of other work, only to then not get paid because of this GLP action.
It may well be the case that ministers failed to follow proper procedure, using inappropriate communication methods, and that they're now trying to cover their backsides. Their exposure will make great tabloid headlines I am sure, but none of us want ABDX to be dragged through the mud as well.
Wow.....the government hand out contracts in a shady way! Lucky local authorities, NHS, GP's, local councils, parish councils, etc are so squeaky clean! There's shortage of gas and CO2, but plenty of brown envelopes to go round.....they're all at it!
Excellent post Scharnhorst thank you.
I would imagine though GCHQ or MI5 will already have transcripts on their desk and be working out what to do next?
For months, Government has been refusing to hand over evidence in our challenge concerning Abingdon Health, the testing company awarded £85 million worth of contracts without competition. Yesterday we took Government to Court to fight for this evidence – and we had a good day.
The Judge ordered the search of Matt Han****’s WhatsApp messages and personal email accounts. We believe this is the first time a Judge has ordered a Minister, or ex-minister, to hand over their personal WhatsApps and text messages.
In fact, the Judge seemed to share our view more generally that Government’s explanations for why they haven’t recovered information from Ministers’ devices simply do not stack up, and he ruled as follows:
Lord Bethell must provide a Witness Statement to the Court to explain – once and for all – what happened to his phone.
Government needs to provide a Witness Statement to the Court explaining how they are going to ensure they recover all the necessary data from Bethell’s phone.
In addition to coughing up Lord Bethell’s private emails, Government must also trawl Matt Han****’s personal emails and WhatsApps for relevant information as to how these contracts came to be awarded with no competition.
We will now get to see previously hidden messages from the Ministers involved in awarding these lucrative contracts. We will also issue an application against Professor Sir John Bell in respect of his documents (to cover WhatsApp, University of Oxford emails and personal emails). He has previously refused to share any of his records, despite his hugely significant role in the contract awards.
Will these documents shed more light on the murky goings on in the awarding of these contracts? Contracts which Ministers overruled their own legal advisors to sign, leaving taxpayers with a multi-million pound bill when it turned out the tests didn’t even work.
The Judge remarked yesterday that Good Law Project is “holding the government – correctly – to high standards of conduct, both in the awards of contracts and generally” – and we will continue to do so.
We will be publishing more extraordinary revelations later this week.
