mrcautios, your info is incorrect. CF also provide sub 1Gig ccts to business customers via resellers using basic GPON technolology which has it's limitations.

Yes perfectly true you can use 1 fibre with disparate wavelengths for each channel in each direction. But as I said CF are not a service provider they are a wholesale connectivity/infrastructure provider.
29 Sep '17THEMANWHOCANRE: Fierce competition from rivals39.50Buy
My understanding of it is that the cable is the cable and the service provider can throttle up or down the speeds to suit the customers requirements We have a service provider called Gigaclear and they have various packages from 50mbps up to 1gbps depending on the customers requirements Another thought of coarse as the Have this network the big boys could just buy them out or rent space from them another reason to hold

mrcaustious - Indeed, it is possible to put n x 100Gbs waves down a single fibre. It does not need to be a pair though. This is true for any provider which has a fibre infrastructure.

As you have stated Cityfibre don't have wavelength services on the fibre connectivity they provide. The companies that do provide it in the UK are COLT and Zayo.
28 Sep '17mrcautiousRE: Fierce competition from rivals39.50No Opinion
Isen - I think this is a very logical possibility.

EIH- again you are not understnding CF's business model ! I never said that CF have active equipment and wavelength services on the fibre connectivity they provide. What I was saying was this is is possible once you have fibre to put n x 100Gbps waves down a single fibre pair. And I am sorry but I am correct that CF have a contract with CF for connectivity in some parts of their network. It is true that Vodafoner still use a vast amount of Openreach and BT wholesale for a lot of their cell… Read More
