BROKER CALL: Arm ticking all the boxes - RBS 3 February, 2010 06:48:42 AM Royal Bank of Scotland raises its price target to 235p a share from 220p and says buy. Brokr adds: 'ARM remains one of our top picks in the IT hardware sector and the best way we see to play the growing smartphone market. Beyond smartphones, we expect ARM to benefit from a resurgent semiconductor market and share gains in Home, Enterprise, Embedded and, increasingly, mobile PCs.'
British chip designer ARM Holdings will be added to the FTSE 100 index to replace Cadbury Plc on Feb. 8 following the takeover of the British confectioner. These are only going up from here.
Will the promotion to FTSE have any effect tomorrow on price?? I used to hold these years back - and made loads!!
my profit and run, had held these from 87p with an average of 105. Will be happy enough if it continues to rise, but will be in again if we get below 160. For me this price has come a long way in a relatively short space of time and despite the faith I have in ARM as a company I can see it falling back
this morning look to be being taken pretty well, this has been shooting up in last few mins
The core Apple A4 chip consists of an ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore, the same processor that powers the NVIDIA Tegra and Qualcomm Snapdragon. The graphics unit is a ARM Mali 50-Series. The key thing to note here is that this is all mostly ARM IP. Broker Panmure has estimated that ARM will get a royalty payment of 60 cents to 80c for each iPad sold and has increased its 2010 forecast by 1% in 2010 and 2% in 2011.
I guess this little boost is on back of fact Apple are backing tablet market which is where ARM chips will be strongest. I guess this new i Pad has an Intel chip though I don't know, maybe it will turn out to be Cortex, we'd never be that lucky. Still if Apple looks to succeed we will se a host of tablets out there many will opt for ARM technology. Have been thinking this would run out of steam at this 200 level but maybe not, maybe it might make £3
Geek.com Arm posts Cortex-a9 vs Atom performance video.
As I said before these are rising sharply now, there does not appear any reasons, other than new gadgets out that use their chips? I'm in for some more yesterday at 193p Seriously can see these topping £3 each
You're proving to be a nice little earner ARM. FTSE up, FTSE down does'nt seem to affect you at all. If you do have a 'day off' (as it were) then I'll be adding to you. I'm do find I'm much fonder of blue on my board than red, thats just my personal preference, of course but for this reason alone I rate you a four star Bobby B Dazzler.
generates a mad blue mist... I spent some time reading up on technical journals on this subject. Its a good outfit and a good example for UK business flag waving. However, as a takeover target, it is not so cut and dried. Many posts on the web on the subject enjoy your research.
Well it seems like its rising again today. There must be something going on for sudden surges. Waiting for £2 mark before getting out. Good luck everyone.
As you say, for a ''takeover target'' this share did a rather good submarine impersonation. It looks a case of 'no the story is bo**ocks' from a senior level and thus those in the know jumped ship (some quite large tranches ditching the stock after hours as well) ramping a share does'nt only appear on bulletin boards generated by malicious 'little' people sometimes it's at trading floor level. It runs for a bit then... I ken your surprise and sympathise with your chagrin. Hows it go? 'Buy on the rumour, sell on the fact' ESPECIALLY when disproved! We little people lose money in the info lag. Still probably worth a punt but NOT as a CFD (unless you have insider knowledge).
Guys, why was there a spike earlier today? I know there has been word of a Google take over but that can't be the reason, can it? If so then the price would have remained content???
HERE WE GO UP ANDUP MERRY XMAS
Google take over of Arm Holdings that is. Best to buy into Arm quick.
Just read someones mention of Google take over ? Anyone know more ?
Theres only one way these can go, and that is up. What can you buy today that does not need a micro chip ask yourself ? Tipped by one major tv blogs site as between 170- 190p In at 158 for 10,000 just wish I had more.
Sorry, to repeat myself but another M buy after the bell, someone building a position?
Perhaps those millions in China dont want their cheap Notebooks and Iphones after all ...
1.5M BUY AFTER THE BELL.. The genius anaylist who downgraded ARM today may be the same guy who stated that their business model was different/inferior to IMG, (like 2 peas in a Ipod).

AMD were squeezed unfairly by Intel and it may be that there is more to pay for Intel. How will this effect ARM. Will it mean Intel is distracted by more litigation, and therefore lose sight of some R&D. Maybe a bit too much to hope for. But should mean a more cautious Intel when it comes to any dubious squeezing of ARM. Can Intel deal with two opponents? Will it try and takeout or takeover one?
This is another one of my shares that has not moved much over the last month. About time after the good news it started firing upwards
1.414 M after the bell ...
