Valunisty
26 Apr '18
So we know that Valunisty produced 31koz but thats pretty much where it stops. Ok so on a cost per resource/reserve it seems reasonable with a processing plant thrown in but without details like AISC and the capacity of the plant its pretty hard to tell if this is a good deal or not. On the plus side the shareholders are unlikely to take on more HGM shares and sell them straight away.

Assuming its profitable, and is producing at a $750/oz AISC that is expected in Russia, it should be producing pre tax cash flow of $15m p.a. which will help with funding the rest of the Chukotna expansion. They didn't mention proximity to Kekura so doubt there are any processing synergies from the deal. Hopefully we get more details prior to the EGM.

The Chukotka region is being pushed hard by the Russian government as the next big mining region and it is forming a key plank in HGMs growth strategy. Despite its isolation and relatively hostile winter, I think it has relatively good infrastructure, particularly roads and power, and I have seen suggestions that they will be building a nuclear power plant with potential for cheap power over the next couple of years.

RNS.

Seems a very good "add on" in the form of Aristus Holdongs including a working mine with production circa 30000 ounces per year.
At present dollar/pound exchange rate new shares are issued at approx 1.45 each so no "mate rates" discount which seems to occur with 99.9% of AIM companies.
Nice dividend on way and share price now healthy above anticipated ex div price.
Initially sold my share at 1.54 on Russian troubles but bought back at 1.42 on result announcement day -so working out very nicely.

Yeah I agree it was difficult to track down this time around. I suppose we must remember its an AIM listed Russian mining company so anything is possible. If Sharepad is correct we should see the SP marked down to 142p in the morning. .

Thanks Ragnarlothbrok,
Beats me why they have been so coy about announcing the amount and dates. I expect to see dividend information in the interim and final results, but I could not find anything in the 2017 Final Results RNS.
Information sites such as AJ Bell seem equally in the dark, and are only listing the previously paid HGM divi's.
Perhaps the company will bother to inform us after it goes ExDiv!

Dividend is 5.42p per share kenl, Sharepad tells me its going ex dividend on Thursday 26/4/18 and being paid on 25/5 . They call it the second interim dividend rather than the final dividend in their presentation (page 6) which is confusing. At the current SP, POG and rouble this should be yielding 6% in 2018 based on their 20% of OCF policy.

I don't know about a special dividend, Ragnarlothbrok, but isn't it time they declared the final dividend for this year?
Have I missed it, or have they decided against a final dividend?

Result

It was a good result but I have come to expect that from HGM. Cash costs are exceptionally low even though this is due to high zinc prices leading to higher gold equivalent production from by products at Novo. But it highlights what an exceptional asset it is.

I can't see any special dividends given they already have $200m+ in debt and they have just released the Kekura FS at a capital cost of $220m over two years, most likely to begin construction later this yer. After dividends they will generate around $100m in additional cash over two years so they are probably looking at $100m in additional funding and net debt/EBITDA of 2x. It wouldn't be prudent to pay out additional dividends when they have growth options like Kekura to reinvest funds into.

Trading on a P/E of barely 10 surprised if this does not get to 155p+ before ex-dividend next week.

'world tensions' being the only thing holding the sp back. I think sentiment can change overnight. I think the weak rouble will be a concern to the Russian govt. who will not want to upset the current status quo with foreign investment and risk further weakness.

Good results
17 Apr '18
and a special divi this year one would summise
Only problem is tensions between world players!!, should not hinder these though, or come to that any gold producers.
Building a nice cash balance to pay for the special and rouble as crashed again all good for HGM.

Good timing of your purchase. Maybe a hint of tensions easing too. Gold producers looking strong across the board.

Also worth bearing in mind that a weaker Ruble won’t be a bad thing in terms of costs here. Especially alongside a higher gold price. Bought a couple of times this week and average 141 odd which I’m pretty happy with.

panda, I bought 5000 intending to add more but have held off for now due to being exposed with BP also (20% Russian oil fields) Also holding SLP which exposes me to the Political situation in SA. Was hoping that SLP was going to pay a dividend which has been sidelined for now. All 3 should pay a yield avg of 6%. Managed to sell 70% of IMM near to the years high and waiting for their P3 results. If they are as expected then I will sell on a spike and add further unless the Russian Syrian crisis escalates.
One thing for sure, Gold prices will firm pretty quick if tensions continue.

Hi Leas,
I bought 10k worth of shares yesterday but I'm very tempted to take some more whilst the share price is so low.
I think there is a good chance the gold price will strengthen significantly this year so there could be some very substantial upside from here. The dividends are also a big bonus.

Panda, have to agree. Bought at 143 with anticipation of a further tranche but have held back with world tensions. I suppose investors decision whether to buy will be exposure to world politics in other holdings. Some positive chatter on advfn bb which may attract interest.

yes, costs will fall significantly with the depreciation of the Rouble whilst the gold price is very firm. I don't think the current anti-Russia climate will affect its operations - in fact it has created a fantastic buying opportunity here IMO

You read my mind TS. Why pay 23-24 times for RRS or FRES when you can get HGM for 8? RRS divi yield is nice at 4%. Although is barely covered by earnings and I don't like whats happening in the Congo , Russia is the place to be, no chance of Putin raising taxes there and pising off the oligarchs.

So what do you think the plan is for financing Kekura? $200+ million for the project in debt would push net debt/to EBITDA to 2.5x. I think they can afford it. I assume that's why they rebased the divi to allow some funding with excess cash. Combined with phased increases in debt over the construction period might get this down to a max of 2x. It could be huge, the govt is really pushing the Chukotka region as the next big thing, promising cheap power and infrastructure.
