closer to the wedding... And the SP is going up as I predicted.
Yes, if it goes through, and I don't see why not; shareholders will get a good SP plus cash! I'm in for a fair bit and may sell other stock to buy more. Just waiting for the Greeks to sign...
Vancouver, British Columbia and Whitehorse, Yukon - February 8, 2012: Institutional Shareholder Services ("ISS") and Glass Lewis & Co., LLC ("GL") have recommended that shareholders vote FOR the merger of Eldorado Gold Corporation ("Eldorado") (TSX: ELD, NYSE: EGO, ASX: EAU) and European Goldfields Limited ("European Goldfields") (AIM: EGU / TSX: EGU) to be considered at their respective special meetings on February 21, 2012. ISS and GL are leading independent international corporate governance analysis and proxy voting firms. Their recommendations assist shareholders in making decisions regarding proxy voting. ISS and GL made their recommendations that shareholders vote FOR the merger based on their findings that the transaction is financially fair to shareholders of both companies, the strategic rationale is reasonable, market reaction has been favourable and there are no significant governance concerns. Eldorado's Chief Executive Officer, Paul N. Wright, said "We are pleased that both ISS and GL support our view that shareholders should support the merger. We maintain our commitment to strengthening performance and providing superior returns for shareholders, which this transaction will help us accomplish." European Goldfields' President and Executive Chairman, Martyn Konig, said, "The positive recommendations of ISS and GL strengthen our belief that the consideration shareholders will receive is fair, and that it is in their best interests to vote FOR the merger with Eldorado."
Goldman Sachs downgrades European Goldfields from conviction buy to neutral, target price cut from 1100p to 800p.
Lots of big buys yesterday and today... as probable takeover draws nearer. Could this affect Eldorado Gold in a positive way (?). Like helping to push up its SP, and thus giving "immigrant shareholders" a good future share price plus hard cash?
check out SMDR
When this stock goes over we should see a bumber share price plus cash. EGU price could spike near the transitory period though. So I'm holding.
I think we should hear news about it around the 23rd feb (?) - my birthday. Be interesting to see if there are any big buys prior to that date. I'm in for quite a bit so I don't think I'll be buying any more - but never say never!.
sorry i hadnt seen this. i only came to check on the price! yeah thats good. theres barely any downside and you get shares in a good company if the takeover is completed plus a bit of money.
Nice to see this SP moving up again. I bought in higher than at current SP after a nice little profit so I can't grouse too much. So if the takeover goes through, I'll have to get a money convertor app asap. As it's my birthday soon, I'll put a few subtle hints about!
hmm not completely reached that stage. it just that the stock market is all about trying to value a company. the el dorado offer isnt even completely cash but the mathematicians have calculated that it values the share at 730-750. gold price correction COULD have an effect but i doubt it. it wont go up or down that much so you wont lose more money etc. the next growth lies in el dorado, if you become a shareholder. nah im no longer a shareholder, i sold out when they agreed with the takeover at 764p.
So looks like it's in the hands of the gods for the moment ... I see a lot of punters have jumped ship today - red almost blinded me with its intensity! Good luck to you too if you're still on board. But surely when this gold correction sorts itself out and the gold price rises again (but not too quickly this time), mining stocks will follow - especially this one(?)
ahhh i seee well there could be a jump in store for example a bidding war.. but this is unlikely. however not all is lost because when the takeover occurs you will receive eldorado shares in return and could make profit from those. good luck though.
Investec has downgraded AIM-listed miner European Goldfields (EGU) from buy to hold, saying that the current pricing reflects Eldorado's offer.
I had a good bite when Rumour shot this share price up a few weeks ago, then bought back in at what I now now was a bit too high. So this stock will have to screw bigger spikes in its mountain boots for me to just break even!
the takeover has been agreed at around 730-750ish a share so no more rises from here.
Good takeover news - so why is this stock going down...
daily express..article in the biz page about egu ..............
takeover on asx
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Canada's Centerra Gold (CG.T) has made an offer for European Goldfields , The Sunday Times reports, without citing sources. European Goldfields, which owns the rights to three sites in northeast Greece, confirmed last week it has received several expressions of interest, but that no formal bids have been tabled. The Sunday Times said Centerra's interest emerged after Eldorado Gold (EGO) made a preliminary approach. Earlier this year, the company received a long-awaited environmental permit to develop two of its Greek gold projects, which will help the company become Europe's largest primary gold producer. European Goldfields wasn't available for immediate comment Sunday.
thats a sound plan. well i just read that its been advised for shareholders to vote in favour of the qatari offer. And on telegraph's questor they are saying that a full takeover can still take place even with the qatari fund involved so its a win win. people are just finding out how undervalued the company is atm. i expect a good run to new year especially if EU can sort itself out.
I had a dabble on this yesterday and have a stop loss of 750, will be interested to see what the market makes of this over the next two weeks.
hey, sorry about the delay. its a hard question tbh. between now and the 22nd dec is a very interesting period because if anyone is going to gatecrash the original qatar deal they would have to do it before then. I read in the evening standard that traders are predicting £12 a share. However this could have great political implications. i have a sneaky feeling that meeting on the 22nd is going to be postponed though due to this news. There is definitely upside in this share because analyst valuations are way higher than the current price especially with impending news as well. but this share fluctuations to about a trough of 550ish-600 so theres abit of fall if any goes unexpectedly wrong because the market we live on pounces on bad news atm
