Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 12 May 2008 it purchased 215,000 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 280.00 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 276.50 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 240,663 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 278.0629 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
