Transaction in own shares

The Company announces that on the 26 September 2008 it purchased 1,000,000 ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company at a price of 72.4 pence per share ("Ordinary Shares"). These shares will be held in Treasury. This purchase equates to approximately 1.74 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.

Following the purchase, the Company holds 1,238,020 of its Ordinary Shares in Treasury and has a total of 56,301,775 Ordinary Shares with voting rights (excluding shares held in Treasury) in issue.
