In accordance with the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules Alkane would like to notify the market of the following:

As at the date of this announcement, Alkane's issued share capital consists of 99,600,848 ordinary shares of 0.5 pence each with voting rights. Alkane does not hold any ordinary shares in treasury.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for calculations by which they determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
